what i don't understand is why the baby has a face of an adult. whats the significance of it.

I think it's to add to the creepiness, and to show that it's not an actual baby

I don't blame you. I recently watched the movie and found this interpretation of Satan the best out of any I've seen, so this painting is quite moving. I look forward to seeing your future work!
