Description
I think I've just hit a new level with this piece, this is the most effort I have ever put into a single work (dunno what came over me).I can thank Nambroth for the idea, it was her painting of an Amur Leopard that inspired this one.
The Amur, Far East or Manchurian Leopard actually lives in far east Russia and northern China, so its habitat is covered in snow for half the year. The length of its fur almost triples in winter. Here, it is summer, so short hair for him.
This is where it gets sad, according to panda.org there are about 50 wild Amur Leopards left in total between Russia and China.
That is an almost hopeless number.
I won't sugar coat it ladies and gents something needs to be done.
I say 'almost' because the Amur TIGER is actually recovering from numbers that were similar to its smaller cousin.
The Amur Tiger has another name...
Its the Siberian Tiger.
*edit* Trimmed for print

It is a shame that Amur leopards are almost extinct. You did a fabulous job of capturing it's essence.
