Smart, perceptive, and hard working, Trend usually has a pretty good idea regarding how he should go about tackling problems. Especially when it's business related, Trend knows how to keep a level head and nudge others towards his desired outcome. He is also very good at holding grudges and is brash enough to let you know it.

Background:

As a colt, Apple Trend looked up to his mother, Applejack, and wanted to grow up to be just like her: hardworking, honest, and strong. Fate had other plans though. While Trend is hardworking and honest, the strong part of that list has elluded him. He inherited none of Applejack's raw strength and, to add insult to injury, is so small in stature that he often gets mistaken for a mare. This glaring weakness is a point of endless frustration for Trend and has inadvertently caused a bit of a rift between him and his mother. While Applejack could rely on her strength to help out on the farm, Apple Trend had to find a different way to make himself useful. So, when he found out that he did have talent on the business side of things, he put it to work in order to make money for his family. However, he pushed it too far and Applejack had to intervene, scolding him for taking advantage of other ponies. That particular argument ended in Trend running away from home. It was at that time that he met and teamed up with the Flim Flam Brothers. He helped them rake in the dough and, for awhile, Apple Trend felt his talents were truly appreciated. However, the morals Applejack had instilled in her son ended up winning out in the end. After a particularly mischievous scheme, Apple Trend parted ways with them and returned home. Things still aren't perfect between him and Applejack, but they do love each other and Apple Trend has committed himself to Sweet Apple Acres.

Notes:

Trend is on the small side and is often mistaken for a mare. A part of him understands that this can't really be helped, but it is still the quickest way to get on his bad side.

Wears glasses because he needs them. They are not a fashion choice and he is pretty blind without them.

He is not strong. Like, really not strong.

Applejack

Trend and Applejack have had a bit of a rocky relationship but, at the end of the day, they do love each other. Applejack is the pony Trend would like to be and always has been. That hasn't changed. The friction between them is the result of him knowing he can't be.

Trenderhoof

Trenderhoof isn't always around due to his job, but Trend is on friendly terms with his father. They always look forward to seeing each other and spending time together. If Trend has any complaints about his dad, it's that he always takes Applejack's side.

Barrel O' Laughs
Barrel works part time at Sweet Apple Acres so Apple Trend has had ample time to get to know her. They've built a pretty solid friendship and can both relate to being awkward sizes since Barrel is big for a mare and Trend is small for a stallion.

Lullaby Song
Trend mostly knows Lullaby through Barrel. The three of them hang out together often and get along well, but Apple Trend probably wouldn't invite Lullaby to go do something without including Barrel at this point in their relationship.

Diamond Charm

This stallion is on Trend's bad side. Being mistaken for a mare is one thing, but also being mistaken for one of the Di's slavering fangirls pushed him over the edge. Di has tried to apologize, but Trend is holding a grudge.

Flim Flam Brothers

Despite their ways, Trend has a bit of a soft spot for these charlatans seeing as he spent some time travelling with them in his teenage years. He believes that they can change and will always give them the benefit of the doubt.
