Description
In the year 2712, mankind has finally found an Earth-like planet after centuries of searching and many failures and setbacks. For three hundred years man has practiced terraforming nearby planets, nearly succeeding, but lacking a key element: water. This planet has much water, almost more than Earth, and the terraforming goes smoothly. But when men first walk on the planet, they find something disturbing, something that did not show up on satellite photos or any other types of scans: A large, plain black monolith, the height of a 60-story building, just as wide, and highly reflective. Curious, the intrepid explorers set out to the alien object.-------------------------
I couldn't find or make a good astronaut-type model to go in this (where the light spot in the foreground is) so I just decided not to keep looking and submit. If I update this, I'll resubmit. The monolith thing was inspired by 2001: A Space Odyssey, and if you haven't read the book, you are missing out. Also see the movie.

And so the monoliths watch over intelligent beings all across the cosomos. This piece really depicts it, and for that I am fav'ing it.
