Description A.K.A. "This will end well."

More squire Melee! If I want this design to stick, I can't just draw one picture and call it a day; like with Sharon, I intend for these older renditions to stay so I have to keep drawing them and making tweaks when I feel it's needed. That said, the younger renditions aren't going away - I just want to focus more on later periods of their life at the moment and show the two growing and maturing.

I've been drawing a lot of largely static poses with these trash drawings, so I wanted to try something at least a little more exciting, and what better chance to do that than during one of Melee's training sessions? It didn't come out too bad, I think... well, the upper half of the body came out okay, anyway...

...

During his travels with Levvick, the adventurer eventually decides Melee could do with some proper sword training. That dinky blade he already has makes for a good self-defense weapon in close quarters, but learning to use a real sword could be quite handy for the "squire." As he himself is no swordsman (Levvick prefers archery and guerilla tactics), the adventurer opts to take Melee to the guard captain of a distant town where Levvick has quite the reputation. It takes some convincing, but the guard captain agrees to at least teach Melee some of the basics.

For his first session, Melee is given a wooden sword to train with (yes, that's supposed to be a wooden sword - wood textures are hard to draw with pen, okay?), as he's far too inexperienced to wield the real deal. This isn't a fight to the death, after all, but basic training and maybe a light sparring session if the captain wants to really test Melee's mettle. I wonder how much he'll learn? How well does the session go? Judging from that look on Melee's face, I'm wholly confident that this first session will end well.

...

Another drawing to put onto the "sketches I'd like to work on more but won't be able to anytime soon because of other projects" pile. The sketch is flawed, like all of the others, but it has a real potential and I'd like to see if I can fix that pose up some (especially the legs). At least here you can sort of see where I was going with Melee's skirt design, though I'm not entirely sure I'll stick with it... I like the striped design, but I still need to figure out a good length for it. I'd love to work on a full-bodied image more... I hope I can make time for that in the near future.

I like how the face came out, at least... it may be a training session with wooden practice swords, but combat is still something that makes Melee uneasy and, contrary to what his name may imply, he isn't very skilled or experienced in it. After this session, he... still won't be very skilled or experienced at it, but he's gotta start somewhere!

Melee is property of , A.K.A. myself.

...

Part of my "Trash Drawing" series, in which I take advantage of the quieter moments of my day job and sketch something down. As I can't just pull out a sketchpad while on the job, I have to make do with whatever supplies I find on hand, which will almost always be pens and scrap cardboard. Due to the hasty and sometimes outright rushed nature of these drawings, coupled with how they're drawn on literal pieces of garbage, I have thus taken to calling these particular sketches "Trash Drawings."

Ooo! A more dynamic pose, I love it! It would be nice to see this piece worked on further.
