Description
2100x1330 pixel version available for download.Fun Fact: Did you know it's been a whopping three years since my last Sharon reference ? Incidentally, that was also the last time I made a colored pic of Sharon? Seems like forever, doesn't it? However, with Sharon's updated design and my desire to pay other artists to draw her, it's high time I finally gave her a shiny new reference. Besides, the old reference has aged poorly and is rife with awful coloring.
This thing was an absolute nightmare to work on; despite it's simplicity, almost everything you see here required multiple attempts before it started to look even this good. The frontal pose? Took multiple sketches and different poses. The notes? Required countless revisions before I decided on what should be told (thus, I left out Captain Obvious stuff like the color of her skin and so on). The background? Hah, orange and green weren't even my first choices for colors and it originally didn't have that map in the background! It was meant to be totally different from what you see here! But now that it's uploaded, I never have to worry about this thing again! I'm finally free from it's clutches (unless if an edit or update is required, but even then I won't have to stare at it all day)!
In regards to the updated design, changes include:
I actually still feel like it's missing something... I don't quite know what, though, and I've become tired of trying to figure it out. If it comes to me, I'll see if I can't update it (I still have the PSD in it's original size). Also, in regards to the weight, I actually don't know what would be an average, somewhat light weight for a girl of Sharon's height, I just took a guess and then factored in the weight of her tail and wings (which I'd wager would be a fair deal). If there's any females out there who can help me with this, I'd appreciate it very much.
Really, any input and comments are very much appreciated.
Sharon is property of , AKA myself.

Thank you - that was a main goal of mine when I initially set out designing the character so long ago. Nice to know I succeeded at that!

Well, I'd wager she could use them to cause small gusts of wind; not enough to really blow anything away, but perhaps enough to kick up sand and dust so any enemies she comes across would get temporarily blinded.
Now that I think about it, I wonder how effective they'd be for simply gliding...? I mean, they aren't very big or strong and I doubt she'd be able to travel very far, but I wonder if they'd be useful for allowing her to at least land somewhat safely if she was to fall from a great height... hmm, it's something to think about.

There are a lot of really great things going on here, Melee. The shading is very well done. I especially like the wings here. Her bust is a very believable size and shape. I really, really like how her legs and feet look on the back view. I also like her mouth on the 3/4s view.
Still, some things to be fixed, of course. Her right foot (as in HER right foot) on the 3/4 view looks a little large/wide. The feet there also make it look like she would be digitigrade, but the back view makes it clear she is plantigrade. Hand anatomy needs a little attention too (I sympathize. HANDS. HOW U DO). The palms in particular. The fingers look nice, so there's that. Practice eye shape for other views other than 3/4. They look lovely in your 3/4, but seem strange on the side and front views.

It's always nice to hear from you, Nevie. Do know that I always appreciate what you have to say, both good and bad. I could respond to all of your points, but I'm only gonna talk about a few here, to keep things relatively short.
I definitely agree with you regarding the front and side views. I was actually almost not going to include them in the reference, since they were largely experimental and just me practicing different angles, but I felt it needed a little more oomph and it didn't quite look right with just that one Β headshot of Sharon showing her fangs and tongue. If it's any consolation, I'm still practicing a little with different head angles - it's not a lot, as I've only been doing this with Sharon and Melee, but it's at least something. I never thought to do something about the eyes, though... I'm definitely gonna have to look into that.
Aw, you think my hands still need work? And I was so proud of how they came out in this pic, too... but looking at it again, I can see your point, especially in regards to the palms. Hands are always a pain to do; so many joints and little details that are really easy to mess up. I'll get the hang of it... someday... I hope...
I'm quite pleased with the orange and green, myself. My original intention was to use a golden color (to play up the color of her eyes), but it clashed too much with Sharon's red skin, so I opted to use orange and green to play up the color of the beads in her hair. However, the decision to make the background itself orange and green was a sort of "on the fly" thing - I went through a number of colors, including both an orange and a green background (as separate colors rather than a gradient). Neither looked good on its own, and I decided to try a gradient just for the heck of it. The results were a lot more pleasing than I had expected. I'm glad you agree.

Oh, and I forgot to mention this. The orange and green look really good here. Great color choices.
