Description
Another result of my trip to the zoo and new zoo membership!! Unlike the elephants, I felt a bit more comfortable trying to add a bit of caricaturing to the top two lions... the one on the right has demented eyes but meh, whateverThey were SOOOOOOO LAAAZZZYYYYYY laying in the sun with their tongues hangin' out! And the lioness on top was very unimpressed with the children banging on the glass.
Again, this was with my new 'china marker' thingy! I likes it!

I'm diggin' this, specially the second lioness that seems to be rolling her eyes. Hey! remember I told you about admiring you for being in Sheridan? I'm kinda considering going there next year, but from senior student to freshman could you please tell me if my level is.. well ok? I've already uploaded one animation I did this term, is kinda the pencil test thing 'cause I don't get to learn After Effects until next term here at ECUAD sooo please tell me what do you think about it so far (I know I'm being kind of annoying and you have better stuff to do, but it would really help me to have your opinion ) that's basically it -forgive the extra large comment- Well, see ya and good luck!

Thanx dude!
Oh man, I am really really sorry about the delay on looking at your work! Seems like I did... but I did not comment yet!!!
I saw your animation and you definatly have animation skills to develop there! I was liking what I saw, especially since you have not gone to college yet for this, right?
HOWEVER the animation portfolio does not seem to care if, or how well, your animation experience is. It's all about the core drawings.
Idk if you have looked at their requirements yet, but they are very specific on what they want you to draw. I suggest taking a look at old requirements here:
[link]
I feel pieces like your hand drawings (you will have to do a couple of these for the sheridan portfolio) and the perspective in your muse drawing (there are 2 room drawing requirments where perspective is key) show me you have the base skills to create the required drawings for the animation portfolio. Most of yoru work is digital painting, which is GREAT for the extra pieces you can submit (I suggest making a environment painting - I liked the couple environments you have posted and think you really have skill there!)
My advice on doing this portfolio has always been this: Be patient and take your time, meaning do not be precious with your work (something you will hear a LOT of when you get into an animation program! ^_^) If a drawing is going crappy, SCRAP IT and START AGAIN! I only place emphasis on this b/c that was something I had a real hard time doing back in the day. You want to show them your BEST WORK. Second piece of advice: DRAW WHAT YOU KNOW HOW TO - this is not the time to show off your creativity if that sacrifices your art skill (ex: bad at drawing fantasy animals? DON'T DRAW THEM for this portfolio!) You want to draw what will show off your technical skills as best you can!
ANOTHER PIECE OF IMPORTANT ADVICE: If you really want to get into Sheridan for their Animation program (which is supposedly one of the best WORLDWIDE) apply for the 1 year Art Fundamentals program also. I did not get accepted the first time I tried for the Sheridan Animation porfolio, and I do not regret AT ALL taking art fundamentals. It got me in the school, gave me a year of hard core ONLY ART (no math and science anymore! WEE!!) to build my portfolio, and allowed me to be tutored and get advice from students and teachers already IN the animation program!!! You don't need a portfolio for this program, and it really really builds your skills!!
I hope all my blabber helps If you choose to try for the animation portfolio after looking at the requirments I have on the link above, let me know and I'd be glad to critique your work! I was a tour guide while I was at Sheridan, and I gave many portfolio crits - not that I know everything but I try to base my crits on what I have learned about Sheridan's program.
Let me know if you need anything else!

lol! those lions are always like that! that reminds me I need to go back before school gets out for the wee lil' kids, that way I can actually draw this time. last time they were all over, and everyone of them wanted to watch me and had millions of questions to ask. not that I don't mind, but keep trying to look through my sketches, and well there were naked people in my sketch book, and I don't think that would go over well with their folks!

HAHAHAHAH That reminds me of when my grandmother saw one of my naked drawings she was so shocked!!
I like drawing in public, b/c it's such a confidence booster! There are always kids who think whatever you draw (even if it's crappy) is amazing. AWEEEEE KIDS!
