continued from Alpine Challenge Phase 3 Extra- Whiteout

Eli began to see some form of cover emerging from the blizzard- a rocky outcrop that was shielded from the worst of the wind and snow. Sprinting as quickly as he could through the deep snowdrifts and clutching his repeater, he dashed towards the outcrop, his approach eventually turning into a slide through the snow. He could hear the wolves in pursuit behind him. At least he couldn’t be surrounded against the outcrop.

They were close on his heels now as he whirled around; he could see them fast approaching through the snowstorm. He raised his repeater, and fired more shots in an attempt to dissuade them, now shooting closer in their direction. That did the trick this time. The wolves scattered back into the whiteout like apparitions, stunned by the closeness of the bullets.

Eli remained with his back against the outcrop, watching down the repeater’s sights in case the wolves had any second thoughts. When he could hear nothing but the howling of the wind, he lowered the repeater and tenderly touched his arm where the wolf had bit him. He winced and drew his hand back, the fingertips of his gloves now damp. Shit. He couldn’t feel the extent of the bite due to adrenaline, but now the pain of it was starting to set in as he looked down at his blood spattered clothing.

He had been in worse situations before, but this was certainly not ideal. He hoped that the gunshots scared the wolves far enough away that they would leave Clint and Aspen alone. But now, Eli had to find 2 pale horses in a whiteout blizzard while injured. With any luck, they hadn’t gone far. Once his horses were found, his next priority would be tending to his arm and making sure infection didn’t set in. He would get it properly treated when he reached one of the checkpoints, but for now he had to do the best he could. Before he could do any of that, though, he had to get his horses and supplies back. With a groan and his repeater in hand, he got up to begin his search.
