Description
Spyro the Dragon has been my earliest childhood video game series and it will always have a place in my heart. I used to draw him all the time back in the days when I was a huge fan of the series, I haven't drawn Spyro in ages and I suddenly had the urge to sketch him and the rest of the old cast. This was actually done some time ago and I forgot to draw Blink with his laser gun hand thingy, whatever, his pose looks odd without it. TSK! XDI'll draw them once in awhile and boy do I miss the old series. I'm so happy that I can actually draw them correct now after all these years but I am dissatisfied with Bentley. Hope you all enjoy this!

Y'know, I wanted to say this at the meetup, but I forgot I realised that while you're a fan of Spyro and Crash, I am a fan of Ratchet & Clank and Jak & Daxter, the spiritual successors of the former two games of Insomniac Games and Naughty Dog respectively. O.o
We're like one console generation apart. XD I do like Spyro as well, but have only played TLoS: Dawn of the Dragon so I can't really say much about the series as a whole.
Anyway, PLAYSTATION MASCOTS FOR THE WIN!

LOL, oh yeah! I've seen Rachet and Jak before but I've never gotten into it as a fan. Maybe one day? You should try out the old Spyro and Crash games, those were very fun and classic. Awesome stories as well. I used to be very big big big fans of those two, unfortunately, I disliked the new Legend Series (and later Skylanders) for Spyro. It's not even Spyro to me anymore, the company is just using him to make money now. For Crash, he officially died after his owners canceled his newest game. I never understood why they did that, there hasn't been a Crash game since 2008. From that point on, the Crash fanbase had deteriorated.
It really broke my heart to see my childhood heroes die, I'll never forget them regardless. Yup! PLAYSTATION FOR THE WIN!!! I miss those days badly..
After that, it was when Sonic came in. I got into the comics more than the games after awhile. But if you remember I mentioned during the meetup that the comic recently rebooted. One of the former writers got tangled in a lawsuit with Archie that resulted in him taking back his characters and concepts which were beloved to many fans. Archie had no choice but to reboot since a vast amount of concepts are no longer allowed to be used, my heart was broken for the third time.
The comics actually resembled the games back then already, but after the reboot it was much much more closer, you should grab them since you were saying you wanted the comics to be like the games.

I see. :/ Hmm, to even play those games, I'll probably have to get some PS1/PS2 emulators and torrent the game files. XD (that's what I did for certain Sonic games on the Gamecube actually)
Well, since you're suggesting that I try out the old Spyro and Crash games, it's my turn to ask you to try out the R&C and J&D games too Ratchet & Clank is the more active franchise (about 1 game released every two years or so), with outrageous humour and awesome character interaction that definitely surpasses anything in the Sonic games (sorry, Sega!) Each character is wonderfully characterized, and even the non-playable characters exist to each have a role in the story (unlike for the sake of existing just to please the fans *cough Knuckles in SLW cough* I'd suggest starting with the original PS2 trilogy (the first 3 games) if you aren't able to play through most of the games. Or you could even watch playthroughs / cutscenes just to get the gist of what I'm talking about
Jak & Daxter is...a little dead at the moment, but the series has one of the best stories I've ever seen in videogames. The first game is aimed at a younger audience, with a simple story. The second game however...took a 180-degree turn in atmosphere, with magic powers replaced by guns and whatnot (which raised its rating from E to T). I would liken it to Shadow the Hedgehog (game), a dark-and-edgy game released right after a game aimed at younger audiences (Sonic Heroes). Nevertheless, Jak 2 surpasses the first game in terms of story and character interaction The third game is my favourite, with lots of twists and turns.
If you really aren't able to get the games (the original trilogy of both series were both released on PSN recently), watching the cutscenes or playthroughs would be sufficient. I'd recommend the playthroughs done by this channel www.youtube.com/user/TheCoDBro… , he is one of the coolest and calmest gaming commentators I've ever seen (and I don't even like commentary, but this is an exception). He has covered most of the R&C and J&D games

Actually I watched several gameplays and cutscenes of Rachet and Jak years back. I wanted to try the series but I forgot about it for a long time. Thanks for the info! I'll try to acquire copies of the games if I can. Anyway their Crash's and Spyro's successors in a sense.
Yeah I felt Knuckles and Amy were so useless in SLW, I was very happy to hear them being in the game when first announced. But they didn't contribute to the story at all, which really disappointed me. I miss the old games where they made all the characters have their part and place.

I really miss the old Spyro series too. Back when it actually FOCUSED on Spyro! Screw Toys for Bob! They claim that if Skylanders only focused on Spyro, "It wouldn't be fair to the other characters." Which I hate every Skylander except for Spyro and Cynder. Sorry about my little rant. I really miss the good old days of playing through the classic games. The characters were memorable and not some new character to be shoved down your throat.
I miss Agent 9, Hunter, Bianca, Bently, Moneybags (who is now named "Auric" in Skylanders), Elora, the Professor, Sheila, Flame, The list goes on!
Anyways, very nice job on these Spyro doodles! Just like the Crash ones you drew, they really represent the characters in a simple, good way. I know you think you did bad on Bently, but I could disagree he looks good! Very nice job, and I can't wait to see more sketches from you!
BTW, Did you know Agent 9 was going to have his own game? Sadly, Vivendi Universal games cancelled it because of the directions it was going in, thus Agent 9 was absent from A Hero's Tail. Probably replaced with Blink.

No worries man, I totally agree with what you said! I miss the old series and completely dropped off with the legend series, skylanders made me lose hope for Spyro almost completely. Auric is actually different from Moneybags, he was inspired by him. I hate how they no longer use the old cast.
Thanks a bunch for your comments! I just didn't draw Bentley big enough, his hand looks so weird as well. But I like how I did his face actually.
Yes I am aware but seeing that game's footage it looked nothing like Agent 9 to me. Oh well things happen. Lol, I see now. No wonder Agent 9 and Blink are so similar!
But all that said, I just want the original series back. It's not even Spyro to me anymore and it sucks to know your childhood is ruined.
