Haha, I love drawing the characters who are canonically weird looking. They're so much easier than the ones who are supposed to be normal folks. This one could just about be a straight adaptation.Everyone says he has stupid hair, and the stupidest hair I could think of was a mullet. I'm very sorry if you happen to have a mullet, and I am also very sorry you look like Billy Ray Cyrus in 1992.
I gave him hipster frames as a joke awhile ago, with him being obsessed with vintage things and wanting to look cool. But I ended up liking how it looked and figured that any time he finds old remnants of what people used to wear before the world fell apart, he might like to collect it and wear it around. It makes him feel like his ancestors still matter even when they're gone, and that he's closer to the past he's fighting so hard for, even though he doesn't know a whole lot about civilization as it used to be. He's lonely, has no family, and he wants to feel like he's part of something. And ironically, the purpose of the frames is to help him fit in more. (It actually looks really dumb but...)
And he's also a 14 year old boy and wouldn't be able to dress himself for beans anyway, but that's besides the point.
Besides that, he's just your normal kid from the future. Satin-looking space suit, doodads that I don't know what they do, the usual.
Unrelated to the design: I have a wicked soft spot for Silver. He's the unsung favorite of mine that I never draw or talk about, but he gives me the warm fuzzies.

Why exactly doesn't Silver resemble Sonic like Shadow, Shard and Metal do in your humanizations? Canonically, Silver is supposed to be similar to Sonic in many ways like Shadow, and both Elise and Amy (at the same general time, no less) cemented the fact that Sonic and Silver look alike.

No reason, I just have a hard time making all three look similar since they don't actually look that much alike. Especially Silver.
Silver I figured it was dark out and Amy just assumed people sitting on roofs would be Sonic. Elise was half unconscious like the whole time. I dunno, I question some of the logic in 06. Even as a hedgehog, I don't see how you could possibly mistake Sonic for Silver.
I should work it into their gijinka forms, but I probably won't. I'm happy enough with this as is, at least until I get the other characters done.

I attribute Amy's mistake to 2 things:
1) She can literally feel Sonic's presence (stated by her in Heroes and Cream in Rush)
2) Sonic and Silver do in fact look alike like Sonic and Shadow. And Elise was fully conscious during the first cutscene of '06. If Elise can get a good look at Sonic and instantly see Silver in his place, then they MUST look alike. Not to mention they share the exact same height and weight down to the last inch and kilogram.
If you look very closely at Sonic and Silver, and get a good look at their physical bodies, their faces, and everything, and look past the futuristic boots, the fern-head, the power sneakers and the lack of chest/arm fur, then you should see that Sonic and Silver do in fact resemble each other. it's just the boots, chest fluff and especially the hair that will throw you off.

Why would I look past the fern-head? Once you look past all those 'other things', you get the body shape of basically every character. No.
And regarding 2) she recognized Silver from her childhood, except she was knocked out for the whole thing. When else has she ever met Silver?

I know how she knows Silver, but the fact is that she made the connection to Silver in that cutscene by looking at Sonic.
Every Sonic character doesn't have the exact same shape. Knuckles has a buffer chest and is slightly taller, Amy has a more feminine body shape and is shorter, Rouge.... Blaze has a slimmer feminine body shape, Tails has a... different child-like body shape as well as being shorter, Espio is taller and looks... not sure how to describe it but he looks.... his torso just looks more muscular somehow. Vector is VECTOR. and Charmy has a Tails-thing going on. Even Mighty looks more bulkier then Sonic when I look at his KC appearance and how some artists draw him.
The thing is, the Sonic characters have a basic design thing they share, but everyone has their differences. Sonic, Shadow, Silver and Metal Sonic are literally the only ones with the exact same height, weight [excluding Metal in weight since he's... y'know... a Robot], and body shape as a whole. Jet has the same height and a similar body shape [intentionally meant to be a rival to Sonic and as such has these same qualities], but has a different weight.

His muzzle color is a lot darker in the games, and I thought about making his skin tone match that. I think that could've worked too. I just ended up liking the look of something closer to the fur color better for some reason.

I want to thank you for your version of Silver, I absolutely adore him! As a Silver-fangirl, he's kinda been my favorite because he's so adorable!
Your interpretation of Silver works, cuz I've always thought of him as an adorkable hero to begin with. He has responsibilities, and he tries to accomplish them and be a hero like the others like Sonic or Shadow, but his inexperience and naivete makes him look dorky. And because he has telekinesis, ya know, moving stuff with the mind, he's always come off as geek or nerd to me. The glasses, as many others have said, not only make a great substitute for the black around his eyes, but also add to his adorkableness, especially coupled with the retrofuturistic suit.

Y'know... Silver is usually able to at least "look" threatening before he messes up or something, but I see what your going with with the glasses.

I don't think he looks threatening at all- he's fourteen, has stupid hair and stupid glowing clothes, shouts dumb lines, and has an oversized dustbunny glued to his chest. The only thing that makes him threatening is how immensely powerful he is, not his looks or stance. Anyone can look threatening when they're hurling a giant trash-ball at you.

Now it just sounds like you hate Silver. Nothing about Silver is "stupid". His hair doesn't even really look that ridiculous, in fact it reminds me of some of the many versions of Xehanort from Kingdom Hearts. ("Stupid glowing clothes?") When I mean threatening, I mean how he looks in several official pictures/artwork for the games he's in. He looks threatening, serious and looks like he's gonna seriously kick your--, that and his design (as a hedgehog, I mean) actually looks cool adds to the point. When I said threatening, I didn't mean when he's flinging stuff at you with his psychic powers.

You are welcome to draw your own, correct, threatening Silver, but I honesty don't find him (particularly the Archie Silver) that imposing.

I would if he was hurling giant trash balls at me. I would if he was trying to kill me. But I'd feel the same way if *anyone* with super powerful glowing powers was hunting me down.
Just looking at him, as he is, without his powers, no, he doesn't look scary in the least. This is precisely what I said a moment ago that you said you didn't mean. He only looks threatening because of his powers, not because of how he actually looks. If he wasn't attacking me, I'd see a weird kid with weird hair, not some cool, intimidating super hero. Shadow is intimidating. Silver is not intimidating. Even during his fight with Dark Enerjak, he didn't act that cool, he acted like he always does, naive and enthusiastic. His powers are the only thing that make him imposing.
