The way the sky is cutting through the centre is something I love about this photo. It draws your eye downwards but then that shadow at the bottom keeps your focus in the picture. The clouds being parted the way that they are, almost make them appear melded with the trees and that's another thing I particularly like.
The colours are again, a big draw for me ... purple and blue are my favourites 
I hope that you can see that your photos are brilliant and I'm not just saying that.

I think this one strikes a balance between being unique but still appealing to most people.. I like the stranger ones personally.. hehe.. I guess if I only posted the ones that I really like I wouldn't have any faves eh?..
it does have a clockwise swirling motion doesn't it?.. sort of like a backwards "6".. or an upside down "9"

I don't know about the fave issue ... it's hard to give people what they want without compromising on your own interests. I've been debating issues like this myself.
You might be right about the balance with this one. Maybe you'll be able to lull people into your more unique visions if they see crossover versions like this. I have seen your favourites going up much more readily ... which is a good sign ... even the more 'stranger' ones.

If that's what will make you happy then you should do it! I know you've been battling with the dilemma of having just the ones you like or that people like. It would probably be a good and more targeted outlet for your creative side. The alternative is to put all your favourite ones into a folder in your gallery for people to see ... or even just feature your faves on your main gallery page with that 'edit' button. Either way, I'm sure you'll do what feels best.
I think you are getting more favourites because of the way you are approaching your photos. I could be wrong but you appear to have a much more ... focused attitude towards them. And I think that shows very much in your work.
