Description Here's "Confronting Toothless" this time.
The first photo is from the new series "Riders of Berk" and the second is from the movie.

He's a lot more expressive in the movies, in the series he is more like a pet than a friend to hiccup :C

I really don't know! In the series he looks like a calm quiet cat! In the movie, he's more energetic!

In the show...there's something about Toothless that's a little gray in color..

Yeah, I noticed that. It's weird. I think he's pretty both ways.

I always knew something was missing when toothless came on "riders of berk" and I found out what makes him cuter is the size of his eyes.X3

Well, you can't expect them to work out the details like in the movie and the three 'sequels'. Or else it would take years for an entire season to be made. Don't get me wrong: I'd like it better if it looked like the movie, but I like the show.

Toothless is a lot darker in the movie, and obviously more detailed.
That's to be expected though.

the problem with series like this is that they don't put the same amount of rendering on the images and reduce the frame rate, so sadly never looks as lush as the film does a lot more choppy, movements restricted, characters standing out rather than being fully intergrated with the scene. i just watched the clip and is what i expected i will still be watching it lol but a bit heart broken about it as well

PuertoRicanBelle In reply to MooshuFezrit [2013-03-31 21:46:47 +0000 UTC]

That's because they don't have the exact same technology as they did for the movie. And secondly it's for other reasons. Such ss Hiccups fur fest. They didn't have quite enough money so they could add the fur. So my guess is that the vest is made of wool. And the same thing renders for Toothless. And I was a bit disappointed they didn't make Toothless cuter and darker than they did in the movie. So basically they didn't have money to make the animation identical to the movie. But the animation is good overall.

They do not reduce the frame rate. It is 23,976fps, the same as in the movie. They just use less motion blur.
By the way, while the animation is not as good as the film, it’s still very stunning and sets the bar high for CGI series.

Yes, it's true. But they cannot use so many money for a TV show... I mean, in the movie they have a wonderful quality, in the show not so much. Like Kung Fu Panda: Legend of Awesomeness or the Penguins of Madagascar

for me, Astrid and Hiccup look older respect the first film, however Toothless remain the same lovely dragon and preserve all his cuteness <3

No, I made them. It is very easy for me, I can take any screenshot (with full resolution from Blu-ray 3D) from the movie (and other HtTYD movies) in one-two minute.

One thing that this compare cannot show is the poses and gestures of scenes as they play out. I thought that toothless looked different but not in the details of his body or the colors used - but how he acted. Much more pet-like and cute, only one fast angry (defending) scene in the hour shown. Also, it would be interesting to see how often he appeared, because it did seem to concentrate on the Vikings more in this series than any of the dragon characters.
