I added two images of Hiccup: the first image is from the new series "Riders of Berk" and the second is from the movie.I made another two "confronting" creations:

i never found the whole neville longbottom reference very accurate, even though it might be the closest reference there is. Β hiccup as a teen (even if he looked more tween), while awkward and dorky, was still cute as a button. not that longbottom was ugly but he had a georgie-porgie quality to him that hiccup never did. even in the adult versions, sure, the actor who played the character became hot (especially when compared to his younger GP-esque self) and the transition was definitely shocking (i suppose that's where the reference got drawn) but the difference between YA!Hiccup and teen!Hiccup, while eye-widening, isn't exactly the part that was jaw-dropping to me. The handsomeness is the bit that had my jaw meeting the ground (man who'd have thunk they'd give him an insanely square jaw for that classically handsome look...puberty must've been a tough time for the dude even if he came out the better for it--good call on keeping the bits of adorkable in his features enough to keep him this side of believable though), not the transition. With longbottom, it's more the transition that's shocking rather than his attractiveness (which is pretty much just generic pretty and not really the classy sorta handsome...not in my books anyway).

Hiccup looks better - as do the other riders and characters - in the movie compared to the series. But then again, you can't expect the same quality in a series to be the exact same as in the movie. You don't have the same amount of money, meaning that there has to be major cut downs to everything, hence why the characters are wearing leather and not fur, why there nearly aren't any dragons besides the ones the six dragons riders ride + the chief's dragon, and also why there aren't really any town folks in the series. What I really find frustrating in the series is that all of Hiccup's freckles are more or less obscured completely, his alternative hair colour, and his face has a complete different shape than from the movie; it being sharper and more angular than the face he has in the movie, which just screams his total cuteness.
I didn't expect the animation to be as good as in the movie, far from it, but they could at least have corrected themselves on how the characters - especially the main character - in reality looks like.Β

All things considered, I'm surprised that Riders of Berk manages to look as good as it does. Obviously the movie has more detail and does in fact look better, but considering the deadlines, budget, and everything else that goes into making a tv series, I was still impressed.Β It looks really close to the original.

One of my really good friends is the spitting image of Hiccup. And it happens to be his favorite movie, and he draws dragons. No one ever leaves him alone for that.

Okay, I think Hiccup's is easier to notice than Astrid. Hair is redder, missing a ton of freckles, his eyes aren't as detailed in color and why is his fur vest not furry >.<

It does seem like Hiccup got a suntan between the movie and Riders of Berk, but that's kind of understandable...he's spending a lot more time flying up closer to the sunlight then he did before he met Toothless, so a little tanning is actually a good detail if I do say so myself.
But still...he's such a cutie, and I'm glad even without his head character animator on the project they still were able to capture his signature facial expressions.

Do you think Hiccup has aged at all from the movies to the TV show? That assuming that How To Train Your Dragon movie came first followed by Legend of the Bonenapper ,then Gift of the Night Fury then Riders of Berk...

This is cool.But I had to stop watching the episode because I was getting so worked up.I'm sueing their asses,that's for sure.No Gerad Butler,Kristen Wiig,I'm quite sure all except Giccup have different voices.And Astrid doesn't look the same...plus Hiccup's missing some Freckles...

Well... I think that you should watch the episodes anyway. They have a good story, awesome graphics... And for the voices... you should get used to them!

I think they actually did a very good job translating Hiccup over to the lower-quality TV show. Looking at it more, you can actually see how he looks just as sweet and cute. Beautiful caps, btw. So heart-tugging.
