How to use it?
You need .NET Framework (3.5 or above) to run the program successfully. Download it from Microsoft. Just double-click on the dA Popularity Index Calculator.exe to run the program. Enter your username in the space provided and just hit enter! If everything goes on smoothly, the 'Show me the Result' would activate and click on it to get your score! Current Version 1.1.6 Refer to Revision History for details.

Q. What made you make the software?
Ans: I have seen people going crazy over pageview scams and whatnots, 'Hey, he is cheating!', and other accusations. I just wanted them to see how many other statistics were there to worry about.
Q. You say you have used complex mathematical tools to arrive at the answer. Could you tell us more about it?
Ans. Of course! The following formula has been used to calculate the index:
index = squareroot{[ (0.5*num_of_deviation_views + 0.1*num_of_pageviews) + (0.5*num_of_comments_given + num_of_comments_received) + (0.5*num_of_friends + num_of_watchers) + (num_of_favs_received + 0.25*num_of_favs_given) + num_of_forum_posts ] / num_of_days_on_dA}
Q. I believe the formula is skewed and/or its too simple.
Ans: In case you do, please leave a comment and we can work out a more effective and complex formula.
Q. I want to use it on my Linux/Mac machine!
Ans: Sorry. The program works only on Windows, that too with .NET 3.5 and above installed. Ask someone to get the score for you. If you can't and/or won't, then just leave a comment and I'll get you your score.
Q. Should this be taken seriously?
Ans: If you must. I'm not going to pay for any kind of bills that you may work up due to use of this software, not for the psychiatrist and definitely not for parties.
Q. I think I might just have found a bug.
Ans: Of course you did! This is just a beta release of the program, so bugs might crop up!

Any program/browser-client identifying itself as IE8 now automatically receives a CONNECTION REFUSED response header from the website. This tool was written using Microsoft Visual Studio. Any .NET browser is based in Internet Explorer, with the version dependent on the version of Visual Studio you are using.
Thus this tool identifies itself as IE8 and has the door slammed in its face by deviantArt.
Personally, I hope that SiNg0d will either update this using a newer version of Visual Studio (thus browser-client version IE9-IE11) or use an alternative method for fetching stats pages from deviantArt.

Do you have a more recent version of VS to recompile it in? maybe .NET 4.5?
That should fix it.
deviantArt is detecting it as Internet Explorer 8 - that's why it stopped working, they block that version now.
You may also be able to change the browser-client string to fool dA into allowing the page fetches. Try telling the site its firefox...

This weeks site update (removing support for IE8) broke the app. The server is detecting the browser or inet control, whichever you used, as being IE8 or earlier.
If you dig a little, you should be able to replace the default user-agent header with one that won't cause the server to hang up.
