So, I've been recently getting into comics again. Dorky, I know. But what can I say? Make Mine Marvel.This is my favorite villain from ANY comic, Carnage, or Cletus Kasady, at least my rendition of him. A friend said he didn't look like the serial killer he was supposed to be, but looked like a boy scout instead. Oh well, who said evil couldn't be cute.
Anyway, this gave me a good opportunity to try out my new red ink. Unfortunately the scanner I used completely ruined the image.

There's nothing wrong with handsome serial killers. Look at Ted Bundy, Jeffery Dahmer, and Richard Ramirez. They were all good looking...in some of their more non-psychotic pictures.

True. Some of the Marvel artists didn't do him near enough justice. However, he is supposed to have a more angular face, something I neglected to do. Tsk.

Actually, the only artist who drew him perfect was Mark Bagley.He made him look not only attractive, but creepy too

I agree completely. Bagley was a genius. Tom Lyle wasn't that bad. The writer who wrote for Carnage's line (It's A Wonderful Life and Mind Bomb) was good, but the art was terrible. He made him look disgusting.

t'was better than i had hoped, but some events seriously displeased me, also when i was watching it some guy in the theatre had tourettes, made it more fun.

Great one. Yes, he does look like a boy scout, but that kinda suits him, adds to the overall creepiness. Didja know the symbiote stuff is red because it merges with Kassadys blood, swirling all around him? Hee hee this is so cool. IΒ΄m planning to do a take on Venom. Love the symbiotes. Love to see them eating brains.

Ah yes, the brains. I'd LOVE to see your take on Venom. I plan on doing him sometime, I just don't dare take on all those muscles without some visual reference. Have you seen the new Spider-man 3 movie?
Oh, and I'm glad you like his boy scout-ness; it makes me feel better that he's still relatively creepy.

I agree, the creepiness is important. Yeah, seen that guddamm movie. Actually, I read about a Spider-Man/Venom confrontation (oh gawd, in a real movie!), like, ten years ago, and I was so excited. IΒ΄m not as big a Spider-Man fan as I used to be when I bought the comics regularly, but I still got some kinda soft spot for the characters. But I have to say, though I thought part 1 and 2 were really well done, I hated hated 3. I left the cinema before it was over. The way they fucked up the Uncle-Ben-being-shot-down-story, and especially the symbiote story. I mean, IΒ΄m glad they didnΒ΄t do the "all Marvel heroes journey to the stars to battle aliens and safe the planet and Spider-Man is gifted with a new black costume" thing they did in the original comics in the 80s, I guess it was rather silly. But the costume just comes down with a little asteroid and "happens to run across" Peter Parker, and no one is actually ASTOUNDED they found alien life. Aaaw, I so hate that, its real cheapo. They top it off by making Venom, I dunno, too witty, not simple enough, but at the same time too flat, doing evil only for evilΒ΄s sake. Enough ranting...
O yeah, the Venom "deviation", will post it right next thing I do.

No, I'm glad you ranted. I haven't seen it yet, but from what I heard they really did fuck it up. At least it isn't as bad as the Ultimate Spider-man storyline where the symbiote was created by Richard Parker and Eddie Brock, Sr. And their two sons (who happened to be friends) took samples of the symbiotic creature that was created as a cure for cancer. Dumb, right? Back to the movie, I actually hope they come out with a 4th movie, and sincerely try not to screw it up.

Oooh, that sounds nasty. I bought a couple of issues from the german version Ultimate Spider-Man and I really liked it. When Venom appeared I thought he looked wrong with the extra horns and stuff, he didnΒ΄t need those, thus, I didnΒ΄t buy those issues. The whole cancer theme stinks, I imagine Marvel tries to make it all look more modern, so the horror is no more generated by fear of "alien invasion" stuff but fear of illness. IΒ΄m kinda uncomfortable with the "symbiote slime=metaphor for cancer" take, I dunno, I think they copied that from X-Files, didnΒ΄t they? Marvel doesnΒ΄t know what to do with Venom any more, I think, heΒ΄s become too politically uncorrect. Compared to nineties, I mean, when anything was a little more lax and super heroes did not need to be such patriots again because the US had less to be afraid of. Hmm.
