Gamma (or how he prefers “Doctor Gamma”) is one of the four commanders of Team Data. The slightly megalomaniacal scientist is considered to be one of the most clever minds in the entire Horatz Region. In case, the prototypes for the scanners that every grunt and the commanders are using were all created by him alone. Yet is he aware of his status and never gets tired to show off with his intellect as well as his skills. He is not the kind of person who likes to hear other opinions. According to him, only ignorant brats would contradict to his theories. And even if he is proven to be wrong, it never was his fault.

Gamma is actually the first Commander of Team Data you encounter during your journey. At this time, he collects data in Belldew Town but doesn't really pay attention to you. After you have beaten two of the Grunts that had stolen the Pokemon of a coordinator, Gamma picks them up and leaves the town without exchanging a word with you.

He does a similar thing later in the Bluespring Forest, where he talks to himself of how the power he scales here is much stronger than in Belldew Town. As he notices you're nearby, he just states that it is rude to eavesdrop and leaves the forest.

It is not until Algafort Town that he challenges you for a battle. Together with Alpha and Beta, he attacks the laboratory to get more information about the two Legendaries Orisolus and Nemonai. He recognises you immediately and finally gives you his name before the battle begins. After his loss, Gamma claims loosing this fight was his plan from the very beginning. It just gave another member of Team Data the chance to sneak inside the lab and steal all the data they had from their computers (if that really is the reason he lost is up to you...). Gamma then retreats with the rest of the team.

Far later in the plot, you are able to sneak into the underwater base of Team Data where you find out that Gamma was the one that had launched the rockets on the Sunken Temple to open the sealed entrance. Another fight starts in which Gamma even uses a Mega Pokemon. After your victorious battle, Gamma decides to sink the entire base yet thanks to the Gym Leader Seamus you can be saved in time.

For a while, it is thought that Gamma hadn't survived this incident yet does he appear in the Ruins of the Nameless to prevent Elite Four member William to get on of the seals. Gamma states that the Legendaries would soon become what their names suggest: a mere legend! Such relics from ancient times have no right to exist in today's world! For that, they must die! As an archaeologist but also as a friend of Pokemon, William swears that he would stop Gamma and Team Data under all means and the battle begins. As Gamma was defeated, William takes the seal and returns to the Sunken Temple, leaving Gamma alone inside the ruins.

He then disappeared without a trace.

His Signature Pokemon is a Mega-Metagross. His Mega Stone is attached on his beard.
