I've been slacking off so far this year... but I managed to get something out for the massive Last Man Standing thunderdome at conceptart.org. Kind of a rush job... and looking at all the amazing entries people came out with, I'm feeling pretty motivated to start busting my ass again. The level gap between me and the pros is glaring me in the face, so I can't wait to start improving myself. Wasted half a year, and life is too short for that.Go check out the last man standing threads in the finally finished forums on conceptart.org. Some high quality stuff.

This is so frightening: I can imagine 1000s of Japanese people doing just the same thing, should they see a massive missle strike.... Whip out the cells and start taking pictures. Beautifully done, especially with the contrast of colored/b&w.

I always thought she triggered "the beginning of the end" via mobilephone.
I watched an actionflick sometime, where they triggered C4 bombs by calling mobiles that were attached to it and it reminded me of that.

An amazing paint. I love the concept and the execution. The blobs of oclor are marvelous, and i like how pointy the smokecloud is in parts. excellently done, witht he same feeling of making it easy to do as always. I wish everybody could be as freakin awesome as this. Too bad it owuld kill the variation.
I also really like the people in it. All their poses seem fluid. <3

ironic at best... though in atuality some one that close to ground zero woulb probably have been permanently / temporarly blinded from the initial reaction.
During the first nuclear tests (before they realized after effects were bad things) soilders in the vicinity were instructed to crouch in their trenches, look away and cover their faces with their hands ... even still soilders reported being able to see the bones in their hands through their closed eyes because it was so bright >.> about fifty times brighter than the sun... LOL anyway nice picture and I love the way the top frame has been redered- very painterly

it doesn't have to be a nuke... any explosion can create a mushroom cloud... it's just a matter of displacing air during an explosion
and yes, if she had been standing there and it was a nuke, she'd be toasted, the radient heat of a nuclear explosion heats the air to around 17,000,000°F

haha! this is gorgeous and totally hilarious. my one and only concen is that hand. the fingers are a bit wonky, though it doesn't really take away at al. really beautiful color and very nice brushwork on that explosion. really nice job
