Description
I've wanted to do something with changelings for a while, and so I did.I may have gone a little overboard, though.

Guerilla is one of the most hard to fight kind of warfare. No need to feel shame when you lose for that kind of war.

A fight that can't be won, no force shall stop the swarm. Beautiful piece depicting the massiveness of the attack, eating through the defenses like acid. Ruins of the capital are still trembling down as the army marches on under the watchfull eye of the queen and her most trusted general. Scorched land strategy leaves no room for rebelion, nothing shall defy the victorious.
I like how the swarm is shown in the sky, rageful packs of sharp, shattering and piercing brutality. But not mindless, it shows very well that each one of them has a specific target and fulfills its duty with expertise.

I really like how you're using the picture to create a context. Really nice comment.
It was a lot of work, and I'm happy that you appreciate the swarm in the sky, since it was a last minute addition and almost didn't make it as I had troubles making it look coherent with the art style.
You also pretty much guessed the base idea behind the picture.

You have a lot of interesting variations there. I like that one that has what looks like a cannon growing out of her back. I also noticed to the far left there's one in the air who's being fired at by a Royal Guard and that one below her is just like "Hey, look out! This guy's shooting at you!"

I do enjoy putting in little scenes in the background.
As for the variations, they are partially inspired by 40k's Tyranids, but it was really interesting to try and make it work with changelings.

I've seen dozens of these changeling multi-bomb pictures before, but it doesn't change the fact it's easy to make it look good.

I never look if it's already been done by somebody before starting to work on something. Maybe I should, though.
Changelings have a really nice design, and I'd like to see what other people would do when working on the same topic.

Here's some pieces on dA that work with variations on this theme. All but one I pulled from my on-file collection and re-traced back to the dA submission. It's good to know what other people have done with an idea, as drawing against the common representation can help garner attention.

It probably seems like going overboard to me because I started it with the intent to just do Chrysalis, and, well, it's not just Chrysalis.
But, to be honest, it was totally worth it. Maybe I'll do more stuff like that when I get the time.
