Description
I should probably apologize for this strip. We made it all the way to Part 30 and I reward you with this: . Hopefully, it wasn't too painful for you.
We met a couple of new characters today, so let's talk about them, because darn it, I like doing this and I'm going to make you sit down and read what I have to say. Or, y'know, skip over it, but that would be mean.
First up is Agnar, Jarl of Amber Creek. According to Falskaar's lore, his ancestor Olav Borvaldur was divinely appointed by Shor to rule over the island when it was first settled by Nords 700 years before the story takes place. Agnar is the latest in a long, unbroken line of nobility that, as far as the citizens of Falskaar are concerned, has consisted solely of wise and benevolent leaders under whom the land has flourished. Agnar is the Big Good of the story and a direct contrast to Yngvarr. Their black-and-white portrayal in the mod is a big change from the moral grey areas of Skyrim's questlines, and is one of the reasons why this mod has such a different feel to it than the game proper.
Thorlogh is a different story. He and the monks of his order (one of whom you saw die painfully in the previous strip) represent all of the scholarly men and women in Falskaar. They are also strict pacifists. This in itself is not a bad thing, and the rest of the priors are all perfectly fine characters (Brother Arnand, from the Dreams in Oblivion quest, I remember liking pretty well). Thorlogh is different because, unlike the other monks, he talks a very big game, which Shelob and Aela are definitely picking up on in Panel 16.

That "admit de feet" joke that Ebon uses is not original. I think I remember reading it a long time ago in this book: www.amazon.com/This-Book-Is-A-…

While the "Lord of the Rings" reference was funny, the line that truly sent me into giggles was Ebon's recounting of his night's battle with the bed.
"It readily let in most of me, but it would not admit de feet."
"...I"m sorry I asked."

D'aww. I still think this is one of my weakest strips, so I appreciate that.

as of now you are the fellowship of the pointless quest... mostly because you are following it anyway, love the comic and the reference.

The Fellowship of Redundancy Alliance is born! It's just been created, too.
Thanks!

Like other said, like the LOTR reference.
A question been on the back of my mind for awhile since I been reading. In the fighting scenes do you ran out health and you had to start back from here the game last saved?

Sir-Douglas-of-Fir In reply to Maxellion [2013-11-04 03:04:53 +0000 UTC]
Thanks.
For fight scenes, I give everybody crazy amounts of health with console commands, and I refill it when it's low using the same method. My character never actually fights (the guy you're seeing in the comic is actually an NPC clone of him made in the Creation Kit), and he's usually in god mode when I make the comics anyway, so he's never in danger of getting killed. The only time I have to reload a previous save game is when my system crashes, which it does sometimes if I'm not careful.

I completely cracked up at the LOTR reference. I love that scene.
The bit about the hair growing out of Yngvarr's ears was hilarious too.

It's a really interesting and well-put-together experience. The best way I know to sum it up is "if Bethesda released DLC based on a fanfiction," s make of that what you will.

Awesome, awesome, awesome!
So funny. I laughed when Agnar introduced himself. Or was introduced. Or both.
Also, the Fellowship of the Ring reference, great and funny again.
Fellowship of the Heart, maybe?
And now, the Jarl speaks of the five companions and in your story there are five of them indeed. Or four, after all. When I played, there were six of us (four Falskaar guys, Dragonborn and Lydia) and what disappointed me was the final song - Glory to the Five!
I imagined how upset Lydia must have been...

I wish they have made a better followers system in Skyrim. So they really had some influence on the plots.

Thanks. I don't have a clue what the Fellowship would have been called, since no one knows Yngvarr is going after the Heart yet.
Alas, it seems to be the lowly lot of the Skyrim follower to be ignored. Either that, or everyone is so fixated on the Dragonborn that they're willing to attribute anything that happens in his/her vicinity to him/her.

"For crying out loud, trim that hair growing out of your ears." - I think this is my favorite line in this strip.
Does Aela get possessive of every bow she uses, or does she really like that ebony one?
::SPOILERS::
I'm looking forward to seeing what'll happen when Yngvarr grabs Barvald's fragment of the Heart. I always thought that someone who's a good shot with a bow could've shot the bastard through that "window".
You know, I never knew Shelob's surname until now. Nice.

Sir-Douglas-of-Fir In reply to the-exiled-muse [2013-11-03 00:28:43 +0000 UTC]
Heh. Thanks.
I think it's just that one. Custom bows that Shelob could make for her are one thing, but an authentic Ebony Bow of Winter is practically a collector's item.

While I would normally comment on Ebon's incredible foot-humour, or the amazing musical panel, or even the LOTR reference, I simply can't get past the fact that Shelob should sleep easy that, even in the eyes of a Werebear, he's still the pretty one out of him and his evil twin. I can't help but picture him frolicking in the flowers singing 'I'm so pretty... oh so pretty...' and Aela in the distance trying to convince people they aren't married!
