A sticky situation

Suzuha let out a long sigh as her foot carefully probes the damp rocks, the uneven flooring forcing her to make sure that her footing is correct to avoid any slips that could occur. Having strained for what felt like an hour to make her way through the natural labyrinth, she propped herself up against a wall, taking a well deserved rest as she reminisced on what got her in this situation…

“Data retrieval?”

The Agent stood uneasy in a murky room, the quiet mechanical hum of electronics filled the smoky atmosphere, as the soft light of a cigar just barely revealing the silhouette of her commanding officer. Feeling a cold sweat running down her neck, being her first time taking on a mission this secretive.

“Precisely, the information we have intercepted that is contained within that Data centre will allow us to plan out our moves without having to worry about giving our operations in the area away.”

Suzuha nods, looking down at a digital map of the forested area around the complex, following the planned out path, leading to a cave.

“Quick analysis shows that you should be able to enter the facility through those caves, once your inside, find a suitable terminal to plug this drive in for 5 minutes, it will allow us to discreetly access the network. Once that is finished, make your way out to the extraction point.”

The figure slid a small thumb drive to her, Suzuha pocketing it before speaking up, unsure thoughts filling her mind about the task ahead.

“Any threats to the mission be aware of?”

Remaining silent for a moment, the commanding officer stubbed out his cigar, before continuing

“We sent two other agents to scout out the caverns to confirm a route, we did not receive any contact from them after they entered the cave. We can only assume that they were captured during their time traversing it. Patrols should be no match for you, however avoid any collateral as it may compromise the operation, and future attempts at rescuing those two scouts.”

Nodding with a steely resolve, Suzuha waited to be dismissed before finalizing her preparations for the mission ahead…

After finally regaining her composure and energy, the latex clad girl continued to trudge through the dank caves, attempting to follow the recommended path as closely as possible, but the maze-like formation of of the dreary walls proved difficult.

‘Hmm, no sign of any paths of any notes, hard to believe any patrols come through here, were the girls caught at the exit perhaps…?’

Her thoughts running off from her at that moment as rocks beneath her feet evened out, Suzuha was trying to fathom what happened to her fellow agents as she worked her way through the dimly lit caves, the sound of dripping water and her muffled footsteps echoing about her. While her dimmed flashlight gave her enough vision to spelunk her way through the cramped shafts without attracting any unwanted, as reached the end of it, she was met with an abyssal cavern, her light not powerful enough to brighten it.

‘Shit, gotta watch my step, can’t risk injuring myself…’

Extending one shaky leg after another, the brunette forged on wards, inching through the oppressive darkness, each step testing the angle of the floor to avoid any slippages. Pleased with the progress she was making, Suzuha was beginning to ease herself back again, just before her foot caught itself on something.

“H-Huhh?--A-Aah!!”

Shrieking as she suddenly plummeted to the ground, the hard impact she was expecting was actually replaced with a dull, soft “Splat!”, as her right thigh was enveloped in a strange warmth. Spun about but the sudden drop, the agent took a few moments to recoup herself. The once silent room was now filled with a chorus of bubbling and gurgling, as the distinct smell of sulfur filled the room.

‘O….Oh no, what is this stuff…?’

No matter how hard she tugged at her right arm, the unknown substance refused to free her, hissing and splattering her arms with long, sticky strands of the gunk. With her free arm, she painstakingly reached to her PDA on her upper arm, fiddling with the device to brighten the light, her sudden predicament causing her to forego the precautions from earlier. The moment the slight fills the expansive cavern, Suzuha eyes widens in fear. A lake of bubbling black ooze stretched out in front of her, responding to every movement, every struggle from the agent in kind, as the inescapable mire churned and shifted under her weight.

Her breathing getting quicker as the moor as Suzuha attempted to pull herself free, her pitiful attempts to break the iron hold of the gunk met with a guttural “Schlooorp! Pffffftptptp…” as the thick morass responded in kind. Her mind racing, it didn't take long for the horror of the situation to set in, underlined by the sounds of elastic stretching.

‘T...Tar? N...No, that can’t be…’

Reaching for her PDA again, a grim realization washed over her as she remembered that no signal would reach her in her current predicament, as each and every single movement allowed the maw of the tar to swallow more of her supple body. As it grasped onto both of her legs, the iron lock of the tar unbreakable, Suzuha’s quivering voice rang out in the darkness…

“O-Oh god, I...I am sinking!”
