I did this when I was supposed to be studying and now I feel rewarded for procrastinating.
EDIT: Then it got me a job in animation, so moral is you should procrastinate more

Would you say she is 'dressed-too-extreme?' I'm unsure about the character design myself so I'd like to know what you mean. As the for the fire effects, it took a while to figure out but the results were satisfying

It is personal taste. In anime, faces and facial expressions are not as unique as in real life. To compensate for that, they usually use unique clothing instead. The characters are defined by what they wear, which requires extremes in colors and shapes, often leading to impractical designs (if you would tant to dress yourself like that in real life). Your figure is not as extreme as it can be (only shiny red hair, and batwing like accesoirs) but the style reminded me directly of the aforementioned animes. I like the more modest and explainable (clothing-)approach they use in the "Avatar"-series' for example ("The Last Aribender", "Legend of Korra"). A few distinct shapes, defined colorsets for different cultural backgrounds and with usability in mind. Don't bother yourself too much, through. The picture is about the fire scythe and your figure is too small for more personalization beside clothing and hair.

Ah right I know what you mean, it definitely is a common theme in this genre where character and clothing designs sacrifice practicality and reason to make the characters more memorably and flashy. Usually it's the case in fantasy tagged anime but the Avatar series is a good example for more reasonable and modest designs like you said.
It's okay I'm actually interested for future reference, the sprite is just a different take on this character (I have a full design from what this was based on: fav.me/d8297jb ).
