Description
Inktober day 27 - Climb#inktober #inktober2017
This wasn't my first idea. Nope. That happened back when I was a little wee child. XD Hehe
I had intended to do a mountain climbing into the sky, but then this happened.
Which was fun and rather more time consuming than I would have thought.
Maybe I will do more of these little interior shots. They're less fun in ink. PS might do well though.
Cheers,
J

After days of travel, slaying dragons, saving damsels in distress, fleeing from wolves, and singing songs in taverns along the way, the Knight returned to his ancient childhood home. He walked in, set the keys to the horse cart down on the crate that served as desk. Then up the stairs to take off this armor and change into a robe and slippers, then go upstairs and...he'd left the bed down in the horse cart.

And he was furious with himself for forgetting.
But, at least, he thought, it didn't get crushed in the rubble of the collapsing ceiling.
So, tired as he was, he trudged back down the stairs and out into the cool shadow of night toward the old barn and the horse cart.
And the slight scrape and scrabble going on in the back......

Now this is the kind of dollhouse I would give to my kids (if I ever get any).

More real-estate related work? Your architectural designs, big or small, always make me desperate to visit these places… but the airfare to your mind is very expensive. Oh well.
I love the layout of the place, and the cut-away gives a great view all around. Too bad the upper storeys are gone, but I'm glad that it's still pretty stable at the base; maybe it's still inhabited or at least used by someone. I like that the stairs aren't in one continuous spiral, both for safety and also feeling more like a home (regardless of the original intention for this place).
As a matter of fact, I only learned a year or two ago that for defensive towers, with a single spiral staircase going up the inside the wall, it needs to twist counterclockwise as it goes up: since most people are right handed it gives a big advantage to the people already on the upper levels. However, for comfort's sake this arrangement seems much better to me.
Thanks for a sweet long look into the resilient remnants of this great place.

Eventually you will be able to see where many of them are on various maps.
Well, at least for some of the locations. Many in Luma and also in Nhyn.
I sort of just started drawing an outer wall and let it just flow from there.
It wasn't very well planned out.

Heh, know who else used to claim, “I sort of just started drawing…” before his sketches turned into something amazing? Frank Lloyd Wright.
Or was it Frank Gehry?

Ooooh, I like that.
FLW is a favorite of mine, along with Mucha and Rackham, which I'm sure is no real surprise.
Oh, and Gustave Dore, Durer, and some others.

To be honest I wasn't paying much attention to the shape of the tower I'm still fascinated by that stairs and your amazing lineart

Cyclopean? Don't forget to do 'eldritch' and 'chthonic'.

Hehe, i always liked Lovecraft's use of certain words.
In this particular case, it was more inspired by the cyclops portrait on the first floor.
But I do need to use eldritch in one of my titles this month, for sure.
Maybe i can work it into the next one... which i had better go get started on
