It was so rare to catch a break, fleeting days of peace, so few and far between, I always made sure to make the most of them, for Orchid's sake, we spent so much time running from the shadow of the Empire, any break we got I jumped at the chance to give her some semblance of a childhood... There was one time in particular that sticks with me still to this day, a break in the winter storm on Hoth, when the cold didn't burn, it was strange, almost as if the Force itself willed us a break... I gathered together everyone from Snowflake Patrol and we set up a campfire to celebrate Orchid's birthday, in truth I doubt it really was her birthday, I don't know it, and she could never remember it, but we were all happy to just pretend, we'd all lost so much... Still, though our party was merely pretend, our family is undoubtedly real. Quinn Shara's memoirs, Rebel Alliance years, reflecting on the struggles of raising an adopted child whilst fighting a war.

More Star Wars OC AU stuff, I drew this whilst ill, to cheer myself up.

It's basically a bunch of OCs enjoying a rare break from the winter storm on Hoth, a month or so prior to the Battle of Hoth. A lot of these characters die, and that actually makes this a sad piece, because this is the last time all these characters are together...

In the foreground are my main Star Wars OC's, the blonde haired girl with the green coloured eyes is Quinn Shara, holding her adopted Chiss daughter Orchid Shara, they are the main characters of my Star Wars AU.
To the left, teasing Orchid (by pretending to be a Wompa) is Nox, a former Imperial pilot, she suffers from PTSD and is a recovering Death Stick addict, she joined the Rebellion after being forced to commit an atrocity for the Empire, though she is stationed at Hoth she isn't present during the battle as a week prior she relapses and overdoses during a patrol, and is hospitalized in a comatose state...
Behind Nox is Merek Zai, a former Jedi, after the Purge he became a smuggler, due to an incident with Quinn he now aids the Rebellion, begrudgingly at first, however as Quinn grows he begins to support the Rebellion in earnest, during the Battle of Hoth he is off-world, securing trade for the Rebellion, along with his jury-rigged astromech droid, Gearbox.

Behind them (the guy with the scar) is Victor Kendal, a skilled pilot and former merc, he is killed during the attack on the second Death Star.
Next to Vic is Isabelle 'Izzy' Devon, an Alderannian national who leads Snowflake patrol, she is traumatized by her sister's death...
Behind Quinn is Anto Jzeek (silent J), he is a technician primarily, he performs maintenance on Alliance equipment, he is killed during the battle of Hoth as Imperial troops sweep through Echo Base.
Behind Anto is Valdimir, a former Separatist lieutenant who still wears his old red uniform, he commands a combat modified Corellian Corvette for the Rebel Alliance, during the Battle of Endor, after sustaining severe damage, he drives his Corvette into the command tower of a Star Destroyer.
Next to Valdimir is Zomori, a well-built Zabrak skilled at unarmed combat, before joining the Rebel Alliance he was a vigilante who targeted Imperial Stormtroopers, he is killed when attempting to ambush Kiri Starchaser (an Imperial OC), cut down by her Lightsaber.
Finally, beside Zomori is Saki, a Togruta woman who's story (and presumably tragic death... ) I haven't worked out yet. XD

Overall I'm pretty happy with how this looks, though I suck at fire... Almost everyone has a scarf of some sort, so this feels quite nice and seasonal, I tried to make them fit their wearers, Quinn's matches her eyes and Lightsaber colour, Orchid's matches her eyes and skin colour, Nox's matches her eyes and goes with her hair, and Zai's matches his cynical personality! XD Also Izzy is wearing a Doctor Who scarf because Doctor Who is awesome (though I'm kinda' eh on the current series...). I really like the colour of the sky, I think it makes this piece seem warmer, a brief contrast to the reality of the war. I really enjoy drawing Quinn and Orchid, they literally are my babies... >w<
