I finally know for sure who I am... I'm Orchid Shara, I can't believe I ever doubted that, and I can't wait to get home again. Quinn sent a whole convoy of ships to escort us back, which is a pleasant surprise, but I'm concerned, I wonder if something's happened back home? She's been leaving me in the dark, I think she's worried about us...It's been stressful these past few weeks, I've learned things that I'd probably choose to forget, if I could, and there's certainly a part of me that wishes I'd never started this journey, but, at the same time... I feel lucky. Lucky to be where I am, to have met Qui-- To have met Mom, and Jae, and everyone else, and I just can't wait to get home and see them again, back with my REAL family, I'm a Shara, and I always have been. ~Orchid Shara's Diary, a somber journey home from Chiss Space, eager to see her adoptive mother again.

I want to cut it short again, all the weight, I just want to drop it... It doesn't matter if it looks choppy, I'll grow it out again, but right now... I want to look like I did when Mom used to cut my hair, I want to be Orchid again."
Jaeriel looks uncomfortable cutting Orchid's hair, but she wants to make Orchid happy again, and Orchid is eternally grateful to have her support, her tears are tears of relief and gratitude more than anything else... Despite the struggles together they're stronger and closer for it. (And they were already preeeetty close.)
I imagine Quinn will be quite surprised to see Orchid's hair short-ish again (and maybe choppy XD) after growing it out for so long, but she'll be glad to see Orchid and Jaeriel home safe, especially considering the approaching storm...
Ugh, damn it, seems every time I draw Orchid she's crying... Gotta draw her being a badass sometime, she IS a Jedi at this point! >_<#
Jaeriel's skin tone might be a bit off, crappy scanner is crappy. ;_;

Orchids about 49/50 years old at that point I think? Quinn is 60 when she dies, so late-middle age by our standards(?), but quite young by Star Wars standards... (Apparently normal humans can live to 120, and Force Sensitive humans can live up to 200.)
She went to discover her own people, the Chiss, but her experiences with them aren't exactly pleasant... ;_;

Well Chiss society tends to be very elitist, where as Orchid is a humble little angel, the very antithesis of her people, having been raised by Quinn, a Corellian.
There might be a little more to it though... (I haven't really written that much yet though... XD)
(In terms of context Han Solo is Corellian, and he's pretty typical as Corellians go.

Heheheh, it's a struggle, and hell I struggle to read stuff like that, I'm a nervous wreck whenever a new chapter of Attack on Titan is released, if my favourite characters survive another chapter I'm both relieved and then frustrated because there's now a whole other month to wait to see if they survive again! XD
Aye, Wedge (Red/Rogue 2 - the X-wing pilot who survived the first Death Star run with Luke, and helped Lando blow up the second Death Star) is also a Corellian. Yeah, sadly there aren't any Chiss in the movies I don't think, they show up more in the Expanded Universe, in games, novels, and comics a lot, though their species is quite reclusive, so it makes sense that they're not around too much.

This is really touching, and it really draws the previous piece full circle for the pair of them as they return home.

I'm really glad you like it, though I imagine Jaeriel finds it quite painful seeing Orchid this way, and having to do something like this is kind of bittersweet, though, I'm sure they're much stronger, and much closer because of it, especially considering Orchid only ever lets Quinn cut her hair (hence why it's often so choppy), so in a way this is a sign of her utter faith in Jaeriel. ;w;
Heh, Orchid being away for a while has probably made Quinn really anxious, though she also has a bad feeling in the back of her mind that something has it's eyes on the galaxy, something huge, and to the Force, hidden... It's just a whisper, nothing specific, and her precognition is notoriously unreliable...

I'm sure for Jaeriel, especially after coming all this way with Orchid, that it is a very bittersweet moment and it certainly brings the pair of them closer together ultimately I'm sure.
I wonder how long they're gone actually? I mean is it just a few weeks? A few months? Or does this drag on for nearly a year? Though to be fair to Quinn, she's right to have misgivings as there's something coming that is far more sinister than anything they've ever dealt with before!

Hmmm, I'm not entirely sure, I still haven't worked everything out yet, I DO want Orchid to get some closure, but I also want it to be a traumatic experience... As far as the time away goes I was thinking about a month, but maybe a couple of months would be better, I don't know, because when things do happen, I want them to happen in quick succession, pushing Orchid with no breaks... (I feel terrible for wanting that...
