Yana's a great woman, committed and compassionate, she treated all the kids in her care like family, but even more so I felt like I was family, maybe it's because I stuck around the longest, the other kids could be fostered out, but she couldn't let me go because of my Force Sensitivity, so instead, in a way, she adopted me herself, it was never official like, but... She really felt like a mother. At that time too, it pains me to admit, but I felt a lot of resentment towards my actual mother, I needed that support... ~Quinn Shara's memoirs, youth, Remembering Yana, her carer back on Da'hren.-------
Star Wars OC AU fluff! A young Quinn with Yana, who raised her for a decade.
They were close, like a mother and daughter, in a way this may have subconsciously influenced Quinn's compassion towards Orchid, Yana was Quinn's role model after all, in that sense Quinn's altruism is influenced by both nature and nurture.Ā
Here Quinn is about twelve or thirteen years old, her hair is pretty long, and Yana is teaching her how to put it in a bun, and eventually her trademark braided bun style. When Quinn leaves Da'hren Yana gives her a gift, a set of hairpins, Quinn cherishes them... When you see her with her trademark hairstyle you can know that the secret is those hairpins.
I don't really have much more to say honestly, this was just a quick thing because I wanted to draw Yana. ^_^

I'm glad you like it! It's always fun developing things like that between characters.
As a child she couldn't see the bigger picture, Quinn's mother left her with Yana without warning in order to protect her, but Quinn just felt that she'd been abandoned, which itself isn't unreasonable for her to feel, even growing up she feels very conflicted, the more she learns of the world, and in particular the Empire's brutal elimination of the Jedi, the more conflicted she feels as she starts to realise that her mother only wanted what was bet for her. ;_;

Quinn was born at the start of the Jedi purge, about a month following the events of Revenge of the Sith, shortly after her birth the Imperial Inquisition (Jedi hunters essentially) discovered them, her father stayed to delay them, and is cut down, whilst her mother ferried her away, they travelled a lot but by the time Quinn was five the Inquisition had almost caught up to them, to protect Quinn her mother left her with Yana, and lead the Inquisition away from her on a false trail, before making her last stand when she was sure that the Inquisition had no knowledge of Quinn's existance. ;-;

She kind of figures it out on her own, as she matures, as an adult, and especially looking after Orchid, she see's it from a different point of view.Ā
I also think Galgriev, Kiri's handler, might offer a few scraps of information, as he mocks Quinn... I'm thinking that he may well have been the Inquisitor responsible for hunting her mother down... ;A;

This is really cute, and honestly I had begun to wonder who Yana was.
Now that I know, I find myself very attached to her and I can see why Quinn would cherish her as well...I wonder if she ever gets to take Orchid back to Dah'ren.

Thank you, glad you like it! Heheh, I had been wanting to draw her for a little while now, as I've mentioned her a few times before in descriptions and such.
I actually have a few ideas, in which Quinn returns home and, as the Empire has been pushed back from the core worlds it's presence on worlds like Da'hren has increased, with the Imperialisation of Da'hren a governor was "elected", and passed several oppressive policies... When Quinn arrives she's surprised and deeply saddened to learn that Yana closed her shelter, as one of the policies passed is that children in care and of a certain age must be enrolled at the Imperial Military School... Yana home-schooled the children in her care (Quinn included), and tried resisting the new policies, but was forced to comply, after which and with much regret she stopped taking children into her care knowing that they'd be forced into the Imperial military system...Ā
Quinn does introduce Yana to Orchid however, and I think it'll be a very emotional moment for her, as she's so happy and proud to see the kind of woman Quinn has become. ;w;
With Yana being effectively forced to close her doors however Quinn wants very much to push back the Imperial presence around Da'hren.Ā

I can completely understand Quinn's desire to liberate what really is her homeworld once the Empire is pushed back...I wonder if Republic Command sees things differently and has a low priority for the planet because of its relatively poor status.
Would make for an interesting storyline to be sure!
I can just imagine little Orchid (though I guess she isn't quite so little by that point) meeting Yana and how that must be for Quinn, in a lot of ways its bringing her daughter to meet her grandmother...that muts be a very powerful moment.

Aye, although she was born on Corellia, Da'hren in a way really is her home, it's an important piece of her life, and the people there are important to her, especially Yana. That'd certainly be an interesting turn, a good source of conflict for her, also with Da'hren's remote location combined with it's seeming strategic and economic unimportance it's a good place for the Empire to hide some nasty secrets, concealed in the clouds of J'hen... 
Heheh, she'd probably be a teenager, though still kinda short. XD (I think she has a bit of a growth spurt in her later teens) But yeah, I'd love for that (it'll definitely happen, no doubt. XD), it'll definitely be super emotional, Quinn seeing Yana, introducing her "Mother" to her "Daughter", I think both Quinn and Yana with be teary eyed, and Orchid seeing everyone all emotional will likely tear up herself! I can imagine Jaeriel thinking "Yeesh, you'd think someone'd died..." or something... XD No doubt Quinn'd want to introduce Jae too, as she considers her family as well. ^_^

Yeah that'd be adorable... Oh god imagine baby Quinn messily doing her hair in two braids, Yana walks in and she goes "I'm just like you Yana!" or something like that. That would so cute XDĀ
