Description So ever since I created this little monster I’ve kinda considered her a pseudo-species of dragon. She has skin and hair, and is warm-blooded like a mammal, but lays eggs and can’t sweat like a reptile (she pants and splays out to cool down). In an AU her “species” can have an element, but for the most part she doesn’t have one. I imagine that her kind kind of matures like dogs or cats:

stage 1: egg. just egg. Their adult colors can be determined from the colors/patterns on the shell.

Stage 2: from birth, all dragons like her are born white, or close to white, before their natural melanin production develops. All of them are born with floppy ears until they get older (think German shepherd puppies) and they eventually stand up (some individuals keep the floppiness though). They have virtually no hair, and they have bald chicken looking wings lmao.

Stage 3: as a “toddler” their wings begin to develop, either growing feathers or fingers/membranes, but they are still too small to learn complete flight. Their pigmentation gets darker, but markings are still not yet developing. Hair starts to grow.

Stage 4: could be considered anywhere from 6-10 in human years, base colors get darker and their markings begin to form. Their wings become large enough for complete flight. Their tails, feet, and ears become disproportionately large (once again, think dogs and cats) so they could essentially “grow into them”.

Stage 5: preteen to teens, sometimes these dragons become slightly underweight due to their rapid growth. Their wings sometimes outgrow them, so flight becomes difficult before their body reaches full size. Their base color and markings have reached complete coloration. They have pretty much grown into their feet, tails, and ears. Bone structure is altered due to physical and sexual maturity.

Stage 6: adulthood. All markings have come in, wings have been grown into, flight is mastered with ease. Weight gain is almost guaranteed, since the metabolism has slowed due to complete maturity.

Ah yes, yet another adjustment to her design. I figured her face looked pretty empty so I added stripes to her jawline. I’m honestly surprised I had the motivation to complete this ha ha aa
