Made for patreon tutorial reward. I decided to release free version as well for this tutorial since people were wondering what kind of technique it is. It's a painting technique focusing on the shades of where light cannot enter, like when you hold a fist and look inside, you will see pitch-black where is not affected by other light source/ambient light. This let you calculate the light source more accurately and systemically like in 3D modeling.
This time using ambient occlusion painting technique for drawing Inori Yuzuriha from Guilty Crown using only Photohsop.

Really nice process, thanks for sharing. I find it interesting that you do the AO shading right after the linework, and before any color. Several of my instructors in college suggested working in greyscale first, and adding color later, but I never liked that system. Painting in just the AO and then adding the other shading after the color is added seems like it might actually work with my (total lack of) style.
I'll have to try this... and let everyone know you made it look good!

Thank you for sharing. Your AO layer is really weel done.
I've been practicing this technique for some monthes too, and I'm really happy with the results. I have some free files too if you want to take a peek

Still can't do this grayscale 3D-like step (ambiant occlusion) correctly, I will have to try it seriously one day. ):
Also there is a typo, you wrote "oclussion" ^^
