Description PLEASE READ FIRST
Alright, here is one of the things I've been working on lately.
A very strange phenomenon happens to me every 2 years (to be more precise, every odd year). My anatomy, somehow, begins to suck. And the worst part is that I don't notice that until is too late. It happened in 2005, 2007, 2009 and now, once again. But this time, I won't let it happen! (at least I'll try! )

Here you can see some of my anatomy studies. It's called "gesture drawing" because you're not worried about perfection, but about how well you can show what is your model doing. In this case, I searched all over internet for cool wolf photos for references, and I have more than 1,200 images now!
So yeah, I hope you enjoy it!

PLEASE you're NOT allowed to use this artwork!
Some of the poses were referenced from ~GrayWolf2 . Please, go check his gallery.

Could I possibly base one of my poses on one of yours? I've been having trouble finding something like this for weeks now, I only need the basic shape (bone structure, the movement, joints, etc.)! May I?

... I'm curious: how long do u spend on gestures? (2, 10, 20 min?)

These are really good. That seems kinda strange though, what happens to you. Maybe it has to do with Drawers Block? You being able to find many images of different poses like this makes me wonder what I'm doing wrong when looking up photos XD I only manage to find ones where they're standing

Wow, I love these sketches!! Your anatomy here is definitely looking great - I know it's a little outside of your usual style, but they undoubtedly resemble wolves, and there's still some of your style left over. ^_^ A very decent combination indeed.

Excellent work!!

VictoriaMartinsBR [2011-03-19 21:33:21 +0000 UTC]

I really liked the new anatomy, especially the second left at the top and third from right on top (he's lying in front).

Do not even bother ... maybe the new anatomy of your drawings get better yet (not that today's not good).

So this is my note, I like it the anatomy!

Jirbytaylor [2011-03-19 21:32:42 +0000 UTC]

And now I'll analyse your analysis! ... actually that's bad I should stick to photos and models like everyone else.

I doubt your anatomy falls out every two years, it's more like your knowledge of anatomy is going faster than your actual drawing ability. Which seems kinda silly actually. But then again, Andrew Hussie of Homestuck has said his ability has fallen out from drawing in a simple style so often.

Skailla, I found an amazing website that helps animal artist practice gesture drawing!: [link]

Basicly, it's a gallery of animal photos that changes pictures on a timer. You can set how long you want the timer to stay on a picture and specify (to some degree) what photos you want to see. It even does human pictures if you want. Best of all, it uses photos from DA's very own artists!

You picked out some really great poses to use here, these are incredible! I'l definetely have to check out that gallery; I know I have those posing/anatomy problems a lot as well.

I really love the variety of style you put into this in comparison to your normal work, but at the same time, it's obviously still YOU. Hopefully, you can combat this anatomy phenomenon; I know it happens to me too! Maybe studying individual parts of the anatomy that give you trouble can help, too?

your anatomy look great! i may have to check out those ref pics! I try to draw wolves and foxes, but I always need help on the paws, especially for more complicated poses! I love these poses! look great! ;D

Now for the serious part, I know what youre talking about. My hands sometimes draw stuff wich could be drawn 5 years before, or just 3.(I draw better than I did 3 years ago and I only need to color my stuff on paper.) My anatomy isnt perfect at all, so I could have the idea of the photos to fix it.
