I'm having way too much fun with these. They're good for practice, and also pretty easy, compared to landscapes and scenery. I'll probably do a few more of these.

About 2 hours, PSCS4, Intuos tablet, custom brushes.

Rephrase: Harry Potter in general. But he remains one of the strongest actors in the bunch.

Again, agreed. He did beautiful things to the character.

Which is your favourite movie out of all eight?

I lovelovelove that first scene, where he sort of manifests with his cloak and gah. Later on he get's a little more human, less Voldie-ish.

Oh, geez. I think Half-Blood-Prince is my favourite, followed by DH 1 and 2, and then Goblet of Fire. In that order haha.

Really? Why so? I thought it was kind of slow, nothing really happened and they really killed the book. I loved the last two movies, especially when watched in one long run with the titlings in between cut out. And I also really like the first movie. There's still so much magicky stuff and it's all still love and peace...

Not sure, something about the direction is just fabulous for me... It has such great moments, and the overall emotion is really well-developed, I think...
Unfortunately, Harry Potter wasn't really part of my childhood, so I don't have the same nostalgia that everyone else does D:

Hrmm well, let's agree to disagree.
Man, I hated JK Rowling for killing off Dumbledore. Did you read the books as well?

Aw man, that's really a hole in your upbringing. Harry Potter is just... like the Titanic and the Moulin Rouge. Unmissable.

I've read most of the books, yeah. I actually really didn't enjoy them, for some reason. I don't appreciate Rowling's style, I guess .

Hahaha, I have lots of those holes....

Mith-cest-Moi In reply to SkarValidus [2011-09-27 20:50:36 +0000 UTC]

Well, that is of course possible. Not everyone can like the same things. I really love them, although when you read Rowling and C.S. Lewis and Tolkien you can't help but notice quite some similarities.

Haha, for example? Come on, don't tell me you don't know the Moulin Rouge?

SkarValidus In reply to Mith-cest-Moi [2011-09-27 20:56:11 +0000 UTC]

I love fantasy in general haha. I grew up on Tolkien and Lewis. And yes, I've listened to a ton of lectures and whatnot about the over-arcing themes explored in fantasy.

I never cared for Titanic (I've seen parts), but I love Moulin Rouge!

Hnnnng, Narnia is so awesome.
How so? In school you mean?

The onliest part of significance is when then ship goes to hell and everything goes down the drain. The rest is romantic nonsense, haha.
Haha, oh yeah! I love that movie, it is super awesome! It might not be perfectly acted or extremely well-made in general, but the songs and the general feeling to it is just so good! Also, Ewan McGregor.

Online, presented at universities and stuff

I sort of like romantic nonsense haha...
I think the acting overall is pretty good, the music is also pretty good, the plot is incredible, and Ewan McGregor is fan-tastic!

Like that. It's how I get a lot of information about things as well, yes.

Hrmm. Depends, if you ask me. I deeply loathe romantic comedies.
Yes! Oh my peanut, finally an understanding soul! Have you seen Angels and Demons? He is so very impossibly extremely awesome in there.

SkarValidus In reply to Mith-cest-Moi [2011-09-27 21:50:41 +0000 UTC]

I don't like romantic comedies either... They bug me usually.
But no, I haven't... I love him though! Have you seen I Love You Phillip Morris? One of the most compelling parts I've ever seen him play. And I just realized that it's also a romantic comedy, I suppose. But it's great.

Indeed. Plotless, mindless, soulless junk.
I haven't, sadly, but I saw the trailer and it seemed like a very fun movie. It's quite a daring subject too, especially since it was brought out in the USA as well. I don't know how the gay situation is in Canada, but I know Americans are not wild about it.
Also, Jim Carrey can be very funny at times.
Also also, there is an exeption for every rule, haha.

SkarValidus In reply to Mith-cest-Moi [2011-09-28 15:38:02 +0000 UTC]

Oh, yeah, it was great. Canada is pretty OK as far as the 'gay situation'. There's a lot of hate that goes around, but the general movement is towards peace and tolerance.

Mith-cest-Moi In reply to SkarValidus [2011-09-28 16:06:09 +0000 UTC]

Ah, good. I can't stand homophobes. (It seems I can't stand very much in general, haha.) Sadly, here we are somewhat going backwards. The Netherlands were the first country to legalise gay marriage, but it seems that violence and hate towards gays is increasing again. The christian parties are also gaining more influence and along with them comes the blabber about how God never wanted this and so on.

SkarValidus In reply to Mith-cest-Moi [2011-09-28 16:16:12 +0000 UTC]

Honestly, I actually have basically negative views on homosexuality in general, BUT I don't support hate, and I have a ton of homosexual friends whom I love to pieces. Regardless of your beliefs on the subject, homosexuals are people, and there's nothing to distinguish them from anyone else. It's a really complex subject, but I hate homophobia and anti-gay judgement.

Mith-cest-Moi In reply to SkarValidus [2011-09-28 16:26:34 +0000 UTC]

What exactly do you mean by 'negative views on' etcetera? I don't think I quite understand.
I do however agree with you on the rest. Discrimination in general is quite despicable to me. It's something I can not comprehend: How does the thought even get in your mind that people are less than you are just because they have other beliefs, skin colour or whatever else you can be a jerk about?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SkarValidus In reply to Mith-cest-Moi [2011-09-28 16:36:34 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I really don't want to go into it. Very broad and sensitive topic. I'm just not a supporter of the practice.
People who hate others because of what they don't understand are idiots and don't belong on this earth.

Mith-cest-Moi In reply to SkarValidus [2011-09-28 16:59:08 +0000 UTC]

I'll leave it alone then, no problem.

Agreement. Dictators, war, discrimination, hate, murder, killing... It's all so sad and unnecessary. How hard is it to accept differences?

On a lighter note: I have two songs in my playlist that are called 'Sail away to Avalon', a calm one and a not quite as calm one. I thought I'd selected the calm one so I had the volume up high. My mum thought I was blowing up the speakers, haha.

SkarValidus In reply to Mith-cest-Moi [2011-09-28 17:04:31 +0000 UTC]

Haha, nicely done. I have some decent speakers set up here on my desk, and when I use them with my computer, I set the stereo volume to maximum and the computer volume to minimum. Then when I switch to the radio without turning down the speakers, my room shakes and me ears practically bleed...

Mith-cest-Moi In reply to SkarValidus [2011-09-28 17:41:26 +0000 UTC]

Hahaha, been in that situation yes! Only with me it was linking my iPod to the speaker system of our school hall for the end of the year gala. And forgetting to cut the volume. I think I have brought permanent damage unto at least five people. The soundmixworkdeskplaceIdon'tknowtherightworkthing is sort of sound proof though, so I didn't notice at first. Poor them.
