Description All together now ... "D'aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwww!"

Another round Paperpoké model, but this time it's two for the price of one! And yes, it actually balances on that tail bobble (with the aid of a 5¢ coin), unless there is a sudden gust of wind. I read that the height of this Pokémon was 20cm tall - I guess it would just be the body height, not body on bobble height - so this model is half its "real-life" size.

It's a pretty basic build, the only tip I think I need to give is attach the bottom of the body to the top of the bobble with a drop of superglue, and tweezers are essential for the tail.

No, I didn't design these, I just test built them, but thank you.

wah. How did you get the body to be so smoove looking? I've tried using the lineless model without embossing the lines and the tabs were giving me so much issues. It just didn't seem to line up properly or there was this huge gap left, then placing so much tension caused the paper to dent near the glued tabs. >_<" So i built another face using the lineless model but embossing it this time, and its getting so square"ish. >_<"

Skele-kitty In reply to D0RKSTARRR [2011-06-25 23:31:06 +0000 UTC]

When you build lineless models, you should still emboss the tab-lines. But the secret is in the glue (I keep telling everyone, but no one listens). If you have crap glue, you cannot align the model pieces perfectly, no matter how good your skills are. Good glue will cut your building time in half and make your models amazing!

That's why I don't testbuild anymore - my glue is no longer available and after trying 10 other types of glue, I just couldn't find an equivalent, so I gave up.

GASP! You don't testbuild anymore. >_<" sad face. Aleene's tacky glue seems to work alright for me. Well it beat the rest, compared to all the other test trials I had to go through for glue. loll.

I do emboss the tabs, but sometimes I take a ruler and use a pencil to draw out the lines that appear on a lined model, unto a lineless model, emboss it, and then erase the pencil line so it helps with square like shaped models instead of printing out lined models and having that lined mark on the model's face (which bothers me oh so much) loll. But since this model is a circle, embossing it like I usually have, gives it a squarish shape? >_<" I don't know, maybe I'm just embossing it too much or I should curl the pieces first without the embossment? Meh. I'll try again. loll. This model is too cute to give up so easily.

Btw, may I ask what kind of glue you used before?

Skele-kitty In reply to D0RKSTARRR [2011-06-26 06:44:49 +0000 UTC]

If you choose to do lined models, I find that it's best to emboss, but DO NOT fold the embossed lines, but rather, allow them to help you by bending at the weak points you just made.

Even the lineless models do need embossing in certain spots, where an angle of the model requires a less than 90 degree bend in the paper, eg: claw, tooth, etc. This is why we always include the PDO, so that the builder can see the 3D model and assess how to approach the construction.

I use to use Power Pritt Gel, but like I said, they don't make it any more, and the replacement product just isn't nearly as good as the original stuff - it takes 4 times longer to stick, but when it does, it's more or less the same - but it means it takes me 4 times longer to build anything.

XD think I'll sick to paper for now... gotta tackle a houndour and houndoom for a friend XP is the houndoom doable with with good quality paper and white liquid glue? and tweezers?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Skele-kitty In reply to Sonia-Road [2011-04-26 20:56:46 +0000 UTC]

Of course! We don't make impossible papercraft, lol! Every model we make goes through several builds to ensure the average person with intermediate skills can reproduce it - I built Charizard 7 times before I was satisfied that it was okay to release.

<120gsm paper, the best paper glue you can find and tweezers should be an essential part of your papercraft toolkit. With these three items, and a pair of scissors, you should be able to build anything

Q__Q o.o you must go through a lot of paper and glue XD Aaaah then I'll be changing glue when this bottle runs out, then Aaaah such good memories I first stumbled across papercrafts during summer break when I was bored as hell and I went around making those little chibi people by desubunny who had papercrafts for all the characters in one of my fave games Devil Survivor~ I swear no one knows that game here TT Then I found a general site and I made a wolfos form Zelda... God that took me a long time. Then I discovered pokemon in February (the DS games) and... O.O I found a new obsession XD

...And I just used up about a minute of your life XD How did you get into papercrafts?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Skele-kitty In reply to Sonia-Road [2011-04-27 06:01:47 +0000 UTC]

Unfortunately, Henkel have discontinued my glue, and the replacement product just isn't the same it's strong, but not tacky, so you have to hold it in place five times longer. I'm not happy, and they know it.

I started papercrafting because I really wanted a vinyl Goomba toy, and didn't want to pay the price that they were asking. Then I found the Goomba template online and it went on from there.

I am pretty much retired re: papercraft. I do one or two occasionally, but since I ran out of my glue, I have been really put off modeling. Although, I am a little obsessed with Portal 2 at the moment, and have decided to make a "life-size" cube. It's gonna be 50cm³, which apparently isn't big enough, but plenty big for me. This will be my fifth Weighted companion cube, lol!

Sonia-Road In reply to Skele-kitty [2011-04-27 20:02:57 +0000 UTC]

Darn that must suck Well my glue is bad quality anyways, it's regular tacky craft glue so its slimy, makes a mess, you have to hold it for a looooong time and I have to apply it with a toothpick and it makes closing the craft... not very fun. I dread the houndoom.

Goomba! XD Those things from mario that are like brown mushrooms and attack you?

o.O 50cm3? That's huge! I don't play that game but I just searched up images of the cubes and they look cool!

Do you do anything else apart from papercrafts art-wise? cause I'm too lazy to go look through your gallery XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Skele-kitty In reply to Sonia-Road [2011-04-27 21:44:13 +0000 UTC]

hmmm, I haven't been able to find a satisfactory replacement glue, but there has to be something, somewhere! Someone said Artist/rubber cement ... I think I'll have to look into that one.

Yeah, goombas, they make me lol! I'd love to make a nice goomba, but I just don't get the time to make anything anymore ... other than this cube :3 I was told that the IRL size of a cube was about 1m³, so I guess, mine is exactly half size! I'm still working out the technical aspects of the model, but I got box-card, so I am all set to construct it now.

I go to uni full time. I am on holidays for a week now, but when I get back, any papercraft will be put on the back-burner. I study graphic design. It's the best!

XD the goombas scared me when i first encountered them... "Oh, why hi there little mushro- Wait huh my health's going down? Huh? Whu-" "GAME OVER." "W-w-w-w-WTF?!?!?!?!? I didn't save!!!" XXD

Erm actually it's one eighth of the size... 50x50x50= 125000 while 100x100x100= 1000000 and 1000000/125000=8... eheh... Sorry to disappoint

Graphic design o.o Sounds quite cool! Still in high school X____X *sighs*

Hahaha! I always did suck at math - we're not exactly on speaking terms.

XD The Boo-like ghosts were cute, but they were nasty since they were so hard to hit. BOO~ He's so cute. I always play him on Mario Party. King Boo's haunted mansion scares me... You know, just a bit... What with all the shifting chambers and the such...

Good old King Kong's Tree-High Kingdon Thingy whatever it's called. The first ground I played on, loved it. Mario Party has such good graphics *w*

XD A lot of people have trouble with math, I'm lucky I'm not one of them. ASIAN POWAH! ^^'

Aaand I should be doing my homework right now...
