Based on this comic by Zarla .I've been struggling with some art block lately... then I remembered a conversation I once had with about how, if Gaster chose Mercy, he'd have to deal with both the responsibilities of being a parent and Asgore constantly looking over his shoulder. He'd probably be so tired he'd drink his coffee straight from the machine. Well, I opted to have him drink it straight from the pot for simplicity's sake.
This might work better if they were older and Gaster had decided to spare them after starting the experiments... and honestly, I wasn't sure whether to have Asgore play with Sans and Papyrus as babybones or as their 'older' Mercyplates versions. It was a tough call, but eventually decided to go with the babybones version because that gave me the opportunity to have Asgore act out Fluffy Bunny with enormous bunny puppets lol.
Gaster could probably recite the story in his sleep. Ah, the joys of being a parent.

The way this picture turned out honestly surprised me. I don't currently have access to my usual drawing equipment, which sort of forced me to use Illustrator for the first time. I hope you like it! If you do, please leave a comment, I'd really appreciate it!
I'm gonna be in Germany for another 2 weeks or so, so no 'What If...?' pages in the meantime I'm afraid~

I'm not sure if you using illustrator had anything to do with it, but the colors are unusually bright here, and I to be honest, I rather like it.

Nah, you can never have too much coffee! Who needs sleep, anyway? Lol. I always imagine Asgore dad'ing all three of them and it's adorable.
I noticed a lot of people drawing Mercyplates, acually! It makes me so happy. : D I love Mercyplates! Any version of it, actually... Having to choose between drawing the skeles as babybones or their Handplates versions was so hard! I kinda wanna draw another now, this time featuring the older versions!
Actually, I think the brightness had to do with me using a tablet rather than my screen at home. I'm always worried about oversaturating things. Maybe I worry a little too much. I quite like the brightness level in this, myself.

HAHAHAHA I remember that conversation! This is so great lol. Fatherhood is tough, eh Gaster?! Well good thing you've got king fluffybuns to tell fluffy bunny stories! That was SUCH a great call for this.
Now I'm imagining he accidentally starts writing what Asgore is saying instead of whatever important notes he's supposed to be writing. Or, heaven forbid, having to read the story himself. Something about having Gaster do menial or domestic tasks is just so appealing, lol. Research into quantum physics and whatnot he can handle, but babysitting with the king?!?! BRING ON THE COFFEE.

Yeeeah, Gaster probably would have a really hard time focusing with that going on in the background and totally mess up his notes! 'Research indicates that linearity of timespace as well as the existence of tachyons could be proven if peekaboo I missed you'. The coffee probably wouldn't help very much lol

Ich mag die Idee und die Umsetzung sehr! Ich kenne Illustrator nicht, aber dafΓΌr, dass du darauf ausweichen musstest, sieht es doch gut aus. Da gibt es nichts zu meckern, haha.

Nee, zu meckern gibt's echt nichts! Ich denk darueber nach, das Programm in Zukunft oefter zu benutzen, die Outlines gingen diesmal so viel schneller als sonst!

Ich zeichne erst von Hand, scanne das Bild und fahre es dann digital nach. Das meinteste, oder?

Das zum Teil. Es gibt ja die MΓΆglichkeit, die Outlines mit Hand nachzuzeichnen oder es mit Vektoren zu machen. Da die Outlines hier sehr klar und Sauber aussehen, frage ich mich, ob hier die Vektoren zum Einsatz kamen.

Ja, habe ich ganz vergessen! In Illustrator malt man sie mit Hand nach und es werden automatisch Vektoren.
