Shog'Nabuth, voice of the Shath'Yar, herald of Arkh'Rulyeh, emperor of the Tempest Spires, has risen. With the fall of N'Zoth, it may be too late for Shog'Nabuth to release the Old Gods imprisoned beneath Azeroth's surface and secure safe passage for its masters back to their world, but it has an even greater plan in mind. Indeed, it seeks to open a gargantuan rift that will bring Arkh'Rulyeh, homeworld of the Old Gods, within orbit of Azeroth. From there, the long-forgotten armies of chaos and madness will charge forth, swarming over a world ripe for the picking. Shog'Nabuth will see this rift created no matter the cost.

Another piece of World of Warcraft fan-art, this time displaying a made-up creature from a made-up world. I was wondering about the origins of the Old Gods, and after reading up about it, they apparently come from an alternate plane (much like the Twisting Nether), that I ended up calling Arkh'Rulyeh, combining the names Arkham (an American city featured in many of H. P. Lovecrafts stories) and R'lyeh, the fictional sunken city in which Cthulhu sleeps.
Then I thought about creatures that would live on Arkh'Rulyeh, and thought of the Old Gods. I decided I wanted to create another race alongside them, a middle ground between the Old Gods and their minions. I ended up with the Yoth'Yar (which I've decided means "Servitor God" in the Old Gods tongue, since Old God translates to "Shath'Yar" in their own language). The Yoth'Yar serve as elite servants of the Old Gods, possibly even evolutionary cousins.
The Yoth'Yar share similar basic traits: Two heads, large amounts of carapace covering a massive body, wrinkled flesh around the lower torso that hangs loose over a mass of tentacles for legs. Not all have crab claws like Shog'Nabuth, and few would look highly similar to its monstrous form.
