Description Have you had the dream again? A black goat with seven eyes that watches from the outside.
-Puzzle Box of Yogg-Saron

Y'Shaarj (pronounced Yah-Sha-Raj) was an Old God, one of several malefic beings that were defeated and imprisoned by the Titans during Azeroth's primordial ages. Located in what is now Pandaria, the mantid race worshipped his seven heads. Y'Shaarj was said to have "consumed hope and begat despair ... inhaled courage and breathed fear". Long ago, the Titans slew Y'Shaarj in their war against the Old Gods. With his dying breath he cursed Pandaria by infesting it with shadows of his power, the Sha. That day, the Titans learned that slaying an Old God would have disastrous consequences, and instead imprisoned the remaining Old Gods deep beneath the earth to be watched over by the Titan's mightiest servants. Y'shaarj's heart was in turn imprisoned in a vault beneath the Vale of Eternal Blossoms, where it lay dormant for thousands of years.
At the command of Garrosh Hellscream, warchief of the self-proclaimed "True Horde", goblin engineers began excavations in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms in search of a mysterious and powerful artifact. With the mining crew terrorized by an ancient power in the depths, adventurers were called in to retrieve whatever remained of the excavation. After clearing the mine full of angered elementals and the living blood of Y'Shaarj, adventurers blasted their way into an underground vault. Inside the vault was a chest, suspended from chains, which contained the very heart of none other than Y'shaarj itself.
Garrosh Hellscream later fully restored the heart of Y'shaarj using the pools of Pandaria, causing great devastation to the sacred Vale of Eternal Blossoms as the dark one's heart began to beat once more. Fortunately, the whole god was not resurrected. The heart was taken to Orgrimmar, and placed in the Underhold, Garrosh's new seat of power. After Garrosh's defeat, the heart of Y'shaarj suffered a failure and only a fading breath remained on the floor of the Underhold, dissipating out of existence shortly after. With its demise, all living sha withered and died without their creator, cleansing Pandaria of their curse forever.

This image of Y'Shaarj is mostly just my own speculation, since Y'Shaarj has never been seen alive in-game, having been killed tens of thousands of years ago. I based the creatures appearance off the Sha that are fought in Mists of Pandaria (who are small slivers of Y'shaarj's power given life with his dying curse), while giving his seven heads distinct appearances based on the vices embodied by the seven prime sha. Organised from left to right, and by eye colour, the heads are:
Top Row: Anger (Red), Pride (Blue), Fear (Purple). Bottom Row: Hatred (White), Despair (Yellow), Doubt (Green), Violence (Grey).

I hope not! In our timeline, Medivh helped open the Dark Portal because he was controlled by Sargeras. Sargeras managed to come in contact with Gul'dan after they defeated the Draenei and were abandoned by Kil'Jaeden, and he told Gul'dan how to create the portal since Sargeras wanted to use the orcs. In AU Draenor, the orcs are still being used by Gul'dan and Archimonde for their plans for Draenor. Thus, AU Sargeras won't have a reason to want to open the Dark Portal. The portal, if it has any power left, is either connected to MU Azeroth, or possibly AU Argus or a Legion-controlled world.
Besides, we already know everything that goes on in Azeroth's history from the start of the First War onwards. The point of Warlords of Draenor was to get to experience what Draenor was like before the First War. Opening the way to AU Azeroth would play out almost identically to Warcraft 1. We've already seen it all, it would be the biggest and most pointless rehash ever.

Yeah, I've seen similar theories.

"The Dark Below": N'Zoth or the Burning Legion?

Neither, it's a proven hoax. Which sucks because it pointed towards the South Seas, N'Zoth and Ny'Alotha. :/

Aside from those that joined Gul'dan!

What about Cho'gall's new master?

And who might be speaking to us in Aku'mai' s lair? N'Zoth, perhaps... :/

Well, they were already secretly bargaining with him before we even met them, and they kept it hidden well, so we couldn't really do much there. And they're still not aligned with the Old Gods, rather the Burning Legion.

Cho'Gall's new master seems to be related to the void in some way. Possibly something to do with the Voidwalkers (they're not actually demons, they're closer to Shadow Elementals, but are demons for gameplay reasons, like the Sha). Though given his death and the finality this next patch seems to have to it, his plotline will probably be forgotten. :/

That voice in Blackfathom Deeps? Oh yeah, that's gotta be N'Zoth! No doubt about that one.

Too bad, we've already seen some Titan stuff...

I wonder if we ever going to fight a forgotten one (Azjol Nerub style) in WoW.

All we really know is, the Titans visited Draenor, didn't do as much with it as they did with Azeroth, and there's probably an Old God in there somewhere (or the Arakkoa tried to summon one from the void), but due to us saving the Arakkoa Outcasts, they won't need to resort to summoning one.

It's likely that the three great maws we've seen in Cataclysm (Iso'rath, Go'rath, and Shu'ma) are Forgotten Ones. Though we didn't really fight them as much as fight something inside them.

What material dis Arthas use To build Icecrown Citadel: SARONITE!! No wonder how he could show us this.
Next, for king Llane, I think he mentioned: "Your petty quarrels only make me stronger!" I guess he must feed on death. (just like Y'shaarj with emotions)

Lastly, don't forget that the three influenced Neltharion into creating the Dragon Soul, but N'Zoth controlled Deathwing only during the Cataclysm for me. (But he corrupted him alright!)

A few weeks later, I'm sure Garrosh would've succumbed to the whispers too. X)

It does seem like he can sense things through the Saronite.... though it seems the Saronite is inert once Yogg-Saron is beaten, since the orcs use it to build up Orgrimmar with no ill effect. :/

Indeed. A leviathan spider-legged creature, crowned with seven heads that feast upon positive thought and exhale all of the worst emotions one can feel. Scary stuff.

It's very confusing to look at at first, but I guess that's part of the deal as an Old God. ^_^

Yeah, it's a bit of a pain getting seven heads all arranged together, made things a bit cluttered. But they say it had seven heads, so sev en heads it shall have!
And you've got a point there. As an old god, its appearance would logically be rather....alien to us.

At first I thought he would look like the other old gods, but since the Mantid describe the sha as his "shadows," Y'shaarj would probablyΒ look more like a sha. Anyway,Β awesome looking design!

Skeppio In reply to LordManda2 [2014-01-12 05:30:13 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! I wanted to do a sort of middle-point design between the other old gods and the sha. With that in mind, I also had to be sure to give it all seven heads, as Y'shaarj was said to have. So the body I ended up with gave me a good amount of room to position all seven heads.
