I think deep down, Kylo knows it wasn't worth it, though he can't face the truth. It may just be me but even in cartoon form, Kylo's expression is a bit more ambiguous as to whether it's pure rage, than Rey. Rey...that's just pure rage. That girl had better go Dark Side and not be treated anymore like she's some kind of squeaky clean Mary Sue hero...
