Personality:

The middle child of the family, Chitin is shy and reserved, opting to stay in the background rather than stand out. Unfortunately, being a tall, lanky changeling/umbrum half-breed doesn’t make for an inconspicuous look, so he often shapeshifts into more unassuming forms. Because of how frequently he does this, Chitin is the most adept at transformation out of the three siblings, something Mama Chryssie takes huge pride in.

Chitin works under Sunburst as a Royal Archivist for the Crystal Empire. The lack of interaction with other ponies along with the close proximity to a certain young alicorn makes this the perfect job for him.

Relationships:

Between his two parents, Chitin is (surprisingly) the closest with his father, Sombra. Sombra sees a lot of his younger self in Chitin and is, therefore, much more patient with him (unlike Jade, who drove him up the wall as a filly). Sombra shows sympathy towards Chitin’s shy, quiet nature, believing that he’ll eventually grow to be a more confident stallion.

Aside from his father, Chitin is the most relaxed around his two sisters. He appreciates Jade’s attempts to help with his confidence issues and enjoys having Smoky around to talk to.

Being the most similar to his mother in terms of magical ability and appearance, he’s deeply afraid of disappointing her, and is unaware of how proud she is of him already.

He is somewhat comfortable around his boss, Sunburst, as they both share traits of awkward clumsiness.

Chitin has a massive crush on Princess Flurry Heart and has a hard time vocalizing his feelings to her. Thankfully, she doesn’t mind being around the awkward shadow-bug, so he has time to get his shit together.
