Personality:

The former heiress of the night, Azure Deimos is Princess Luna’s pride and joy. Her middle name, Beatrix, was given to her in honor of her stepmother, Trixie. Growing up in Canterlot, Azure spend her childhood being pampered and groomed, and was expected to be the next ruler of the night. Unfortunately, Azzy wasn’t all that interested in taking up the throne, instead finding enjoyment in pulling pranks on the nobles and royal guards.

At thirteen, Azure was old enough to start her princess training, but instead she asked her mother if she could attend school in the Crystal Empire so she could be closer to her brother. Officially relinquishing her status as heiress to the night, Azure spent her teenage years living in the Crystal Empire with her brother and stepmother, and on top of learning how to be a performer, she’s also taken up an interest in cross-dressing as either her brother or her alter-ego, Cerulean.

While she eventually caught up to Smokescreen as a performer, Azure was always the better prankster. While she respects Smoke’s loyalty to his Prankster’s Code, she doesn’t always abide by its rules, having a much more mischievous streak that resembles her father’s.

Azure did inherit dreamwalking magic from her mother, she never honed it because of her decision to forego princess training, so she can only visit the dreams of those she’s close to.

Unfortunately, despite her usual confidence, Azure sometimes worries about what her friends and family think of her, and she’s working on talking to them directly whenever these feelings come about rather than using her dreamwalking magic to peer into their true thoughts at night. The temptation is strong, though.

Azure currently works as the opening act for her stepmother’s shows alongside Smokescreen, and they’ve had successful solo shows in Las Pegasus, Manehattan, and Canterlot. When performing, she’ll normally pull at least one prank on one lucky audience member. Some look forward to it, others dread it, she enjoys it.

Relationships:

Azure and Smokescreen dub themselves as “The Eclipse Twins.” While the two siblings have the same father (Discord), Azure was mothered by Luna while Smokescreen was mothered by Trixie Lulamoon. The twins were born eight minutes apart (Azure being the oldest) and spent the first few months after their birth living in Canterlot until Trixie found a permanent performing gig in the Crystal Empire. Despite the distance, Azure used her dreamwalking ability to enter his dreams and keep in touch prior to her eventual move to the Crystal Empire.

A recurring insecurity that Azure has is that she’ll sometimes think that Smokescreen doesn’t need her to be a great performer, but he insists that The Eclipse Twins are much better when they’re a team.

Azzy has a healthy relationship with her mother, Luna, but it was a bumpy road. Initially harboring guilt over choosing to be a performer instead of a princess, Azure feared that her mother would take it as a sign that she loved Trixie more than her, and kept this to herself for months. After Luna catches her daughter spying on her dreams to confirm her suspicions, she reassured Azure that she’ll always be proud of whatever path she takes as long as she’s happy. Azure now visits her mother in the dream world a few nights a week, and Luna tries to attend as many of Azure’s shows as she can.

When Azure first moved to the Crystal Empire, her stepmother Trixie welcomed her with open hooves, and was overjoyed to learn that she wanted to become a performer. At that point, Smokescreen was way ahead of Azzy in terms of skill, but Trixie gave her a crash course and the newbie magician was able to catch up to her brother in about a year.

Azure always looks forward to seeing her father, and will sometimes accompany him when he visits Fluttershy for tea (Smokescreen was invited, of course, but he was more of a coffee guy). As a joke, Discord would sometimes say that his daughter would’ve made for a perfect heiress of chaos.
Azure met Chitin through her brother, and sympathizes with him on his struggles to open up to his mother. She’s always open to offering him advice on the matter whenever he needs it, and they’ve grown very close as a result.
