Verdigris had been minding his own business when he heard the commotion outside. He'd left April to play with some of the younger kids and went to investigate when he'd seen him. Maw.

It had been what, a couple hours since then? he hadn't really sat down, clutching his egg to his chest. He was back. He actually came back. Sobbing and beaten, but still. While the logical part of him told him Maw's days of teenage rebellion were over, the paternal part of him wanted that fuzzy bastard as far away from his kids as possible. He wasn't allowed in the house at least. April wasn't too pleased to hear that she couldn't go play with the animals, but frankly, Verdi didn't care.

So now he was still pacing, thinking, feeling that clawing feeling in his chest. The kind that had usually only happened after he'd moved out of his childhood home and had started cuddling June, and realizing how good it felt, how much he craved it. But June was at work, he felt like hell, and he was stuck.

"Stupid jar..." A familiar voice was heard just before Kia walked into the living room with a pickle. She crunched it loudly and sunk onto the couch, panting from the weight of her large stomach. "Dont fuck around with my bladder, i just sat down."

Verdigris glanced at her. She was still sore about being 'grounded', which would immediately not apply as soon as she got home to her mate, but he understood her irritation. He stared at her for a moment, contemplating the pros and cons of doing what he was about to do, before walking over to the couch and flopping down, curling against her side wordlessly.

Kia stuffed the rest of her pickle in her mouth then looked weirdly to Verdi. "Uh...Hi." She said, looking confused.

Verdigris didn't respond, just clutched his egg to his chest and leaned against her. He was tense, and his tail was curled limply against him. Weirdest of all, he made no comment on the fact that she was eating the most stereotypical eggbound gro food.

Kia noticed then and gently placed her hand on his shoulder. "You're not happy hes back either?" She guessed, moving her tail the brush his hair out of the way..

"Not particularly." Verdi said quietly. He looked like he was getting bags under his eyes.

"Dude...you look like shit." Kia said quietly. "When was the last time you had beauty sleep?" She said, hoping he would snark back.

Verdi just shrugs a bit, running his thumb over the shell of his egg. "I'm fine."

Kia was surprised. "Dude, you're as far from fine as you can be. Look, i know you're not happy that that piece of shit is here again, but you need to take care of yourself bro."

Verdi huffed before rolling over, sighing to release some of the tension as he pressed his eyes into her fur.

Kia watched him a moment, then tried to shift to comfort him. She then squeaked and clutched her stomach. "Egg, bladder, need pee..."

Verdi groaned quietly before sitting up. "Honestly, it's a miracle you haven't shriveled up into a raisin with how much you need the bathroom." He said, sounding a bit more normal.

Kia grunted and got up. "Tel me about it." She muttered, hobbling off.

Verdi watched her go before getting up and going to check on April with the kids.

I don't think I've ever properly shown one of Verdi's quirks per say? Growing up in the crowded nook and then in the crowded Rosmarin home has left Verdi pretty attention hungry. So, when he's feeling particularly like trash, he'll go lay on someone, usually only June. Though it looks like Kia was added back onto that list, huzzah.
