Today was the day they moved into learning how to use the 3D Manuveur gear. They'd practiced plenty of times on the balancing stations, perfecting their flying positions. Aimee had taken some time to get used to the techniques, but being bottom heavy helped to keep her right side up. She slid into the gear's harness, hoisting it up and buckling it to a snug fit around her waist. She firmly gripped the blade's handles, readying her fingers on the triggers while she waited for the signal. After a moment, a sharp whistle cut through the air and she was off. She pulled the triggers, sending out the two cables, attaching them to surrounding trees and rocketing forward.
Unlike the balance test, flying through the air was another ball park. Her body was spun and flung around, disorienting her for a moment before she regained her bearings. She released the triggers to detach the current cables and fired off a new set, sending her higher into the air. She had to admit, this would be a really fun way to pass the time if they didn't need to fight the titans. She used the momentum she'd gained to launch further. With a click of the trigger, she detached her cable and used the propulsion packs to speed forward a few feet, laughing all the way.
Now all she had to do was make a nice, easy landing and... Wait, how do we land again? Her mind cycled through their training, but came up blank. She plummeted down in her hesitation and in a panic, shot out another set of cables to slow her descent. Her left hook stuck into a tree, but the right missed its target, causing her to be sharply jerked to the left. "MERDE-!", she grunted as her body was thrown around the trees. She instinctively released the cables as her right shoulder clipped a tree. She wanted to let out a yelp of pain, but her voice caught in her throat when she tried. She sheathed her swords and pulled herself into a ball, trying to minimalize damage as she rolled across the forest floor. After she came to a stop, she took a moment to assess her injuries before gingerly sitting up. She cradled her right arm, an intense spark of pain jolting down the limb when it was moved.
No internal bleeding... no fractures... Probably just a dislocation. she thought before carefully standing up and walking back to where the other trainees were, I'll have to get some one to pop it back in place, but there should be little to no recovery time. The pain could be worse, I guess. She'd just have to get used to the gear's propulsion system and try harder next time. She chuckled to herself and called out, "Miss Eva? Could you please assist me? My landing was... ehehehe, less than graceful."
