Description
I grew bored walking around Barcelona taking snaps here, drinking an absinthe there, some tapas, then more touristy snaps. Oh, this isn't to say that Barcelona is boring. Far from it. Probably one of the most inspirational cities I've been in. But, it's just I kept thinking of how times most of the beautiful sites had been photographed by millions of photographers. So, I decided to focus my lens on the everyday mundane elements of Barcelona. Just for an hour or so... I wasn't going to shoot anything the rest of the tourists were shooting. I was going to focus on the real subliminal texture of the place.
This and the other 2 Barcelona images were taken of some rusted plates on the sidewalk near the shipyard of Barcelona, Spain.

nice. i think i like this one the best. maybe because it's the most ballanced of the two? which is odd, because i usually prefer asymmetry. but i think it's the bright colors in this one and the fact that the lines are So dramatic and engaging... and the contrast of the spots on one side and the lines on the other.
i really like all the crisscrossing lines in #1 as well, which make it very dynamic. although maybe i might've given it a square crop to the right? to enhance the focus on all the lines, maybe.
hehe. i just sat down to my computer to realize that i wrote this two days ago and forgot to hit 'submit'... aaanyways...

well, I tend to ride up the saturation quite a bit to taste. I like bleeding color, but some don't. The blue parts were actually more of a blue grey.

Beautifully observed.
I like your reasoning behind these shots - it's nice to turn your camera away from the conventional as you're often suprised by the bounty you find.

Yes, it's always a bit of a letdown to look back at your shots for the day and think, "gee, that looks just like a hundred postcards I saw today.."

Oh my. This is so very enjoyable. Vivid colours, rust and appealing forms - with these elements a picture cannot fail to please me. This image has all those features, and so do the rest in this series. Lovely. These images made my day. I hope to see more of these anti-turist/finding-something-randomly-awesome shots from you.

This is nice! Love the colours & textures. If you'd said it was taken in a nuclear power station I'd have believed you....not the beautiful city of Barcelona.....

thanks! yes, sometimes I feel silly shooting stuff that doesn't really "belong" to any one place.. but at the same time, I like to purposely forget about shooting what I think is expected.

I think you have really captured what you were trying for. I mean, any decent pictures of Barcelona are generally impressive, but you've really scraped beneath the surface here and found Barcelona's texture.
