Umm, since there is no real female character introduced that could be shipped with him, I don't ship Thorin with anyone. Lol I see him as that one hot loner. Thilbo really makes a little sense to me but, I don't take it seriously and real ignore it.

Ah, I see. Yeah, I used to be like that. But I always have to ship someone with SOMEONE. and since I do not ship slash (I'm anti-slash, recently) I created a character to ship Thorin with. It's really adorable in my mind........ but it only owkrs if thorin lives sooooooo...for now one hot loner stays!

I think the movies make us easily forget how old Legolas really is. He calls Aragorn and Gimli "children" all the time in the books. "Behold Aragorn - kiddie of, I mean King of Gondor"
So even though dwarves get old, elves are ancient and Legolas probably already was over 3000 years old when Fili and Kili were born.
But nevertheless your picture is so cute! D'awww.

I just came across this drawing and thought it was a really cute tongue-in-cheek alternate universe idea.Β The little miniature Legolas in the baby carrier is adorable and I like toddler Kili and Fili too.Β Since someone mentioned age and I'm such a Ringer geek, I thought you might be interested to know that Legolas' age is not ever mentioned in the books, but we can guess it by some other facts. Since Oropher(Thranduil's father) dwelt in Lothlorien less than 1,000 years before the quest we know that means that Legolas has to be less than 1,000 years old because it was his first time in Lothlorien during the quest, making him the youngest elf mentioned in Tolkien's writings Arwen being second at around 2,600 years old.Β For an elf that is quite young, maybe making him relatively one of the younger members of the quest, though of course chronologically he was the second oldest after Gandalf.Β He is certainly a much more youthful character than Elrond or Galadriel or Celeborn or any of the other ancient elves!Β He's still several hundred years older than Kili and Fili of course, but closer than youΒ might think!

I think you might be a bit confused with the chronology. Oropher perished in the battle of Dagorlad in the Second Age 3434Β which was 3000+ years before the quest to retake Erebor.

Yes sorry, not Oropher, but Thanduil would have lived in Southern Mirkwood near Lothlorien and it seems like Legolas does not predate Dol Guldur or he would have lived with his faimliy in southern Mirkewood right across the river from Lothlorien.Β It's just a guess, but it seems like if he were older than that he would have spent at least some time in Lothlorien before things went bad, meaning he has to be less than 2,000. I suppose it is possible he could have lived that close and never visited his kin there, but it seems likely he would have done had it been safe to do so before the establishment of Dol Goldur.Β AlsoΒ Legolas' recounting of the story of Amroth and Nimrodel makes it sound like they had been glamorized into legend before he was born, which would make him probably less than 900 years old.Β It's a little flimsy, but Tolkien only gives us clues and never an actual age, so its fun to guess isn't it?Β Β His jovial and even sometimes teasing personality also contrasts with the ancient elves we meet throughout the tale as well.Β One more clue, though this is a really extra flimsy one, is the Mithril shirt that is given to Bilbo Baggins and passed on to Frodo.Β Aragorn indicates at one point that it was made for an elven prince, and it is still small enough to fit a hobbit, so thatΒ prince would have still been very small.Β At the time Smaug took the Lonely Mountain, there was just one elven king in Middle earth, meaning that shirt was made for his son, but never got to him because of dragon interference.Β Unless Legolas has younger brothers (which is possible) that mithril shirt was made for him, which fits with him being very young, at least for an elf.Β
Anyway there is no truth about fictional people, but I find it interesting to speculate, and since this theory fits my fanon ideas, I like to go with it.Β
