Description 800th Deviation Horray!
I personally recommend you downloading/viewing the full thing in DIVX or iTunes.

"I Cannot Be Found"
5:42

Details:
Pre-production began back in April of 2008. Actual renders began in the Summer of 2008. Most of the clips were worked on during my spare time secretly. Most of these are super long shots, unfortunately this "early decision" made production longer than it should have been. Regardless I continued the render because they looked beautiful.... I basically spent 1.5 years making this happen.

The renders are separated into 2: Diffusion layer and Alpha for the effects later on.

During the Summer of 2009, I began working on the VFX work. This is where all these landscapes begin to bloom into color. Here again, what made me think twice was that I needed to work in 12 bit. It was the craziest days of my life.

Either way, it's now complete. Available in HD.

Sound Design:
The sound was designed using Absynth 4. Initially the plan was to compose a dramatic, cinematic music track, but as I began post-production, I began to see other possibilities. I instead decided that it was fair to produce a simple, tonal resonance based on the landscapes themselves. Of course this took some time and math, but the sound's the result.

Regardless of all, the original audio is 5.1 surround. Too bad online video players don't deal with 5.1 surround. Either way, that will be published somewhere else.

Thanks for watching

You wouldn't really understand this work if you watched it in pieces. Now I think I finally the message of this film is: that even in nothing, there's still something, and nothing is always and forever will be everything.

.. or something like that.

kinda has a hazy, almost surreal feel of atmosphere to me...

what was this built on?

Great work here, you can really feel the resonance from each clip through the audio.

I initially thought the music was by 'stars of the lid', it sounds very similar so kudos to you!

I'd love to see this n HD

Two words... Aureo Borealis. If that could somehow be produced and shown in the sky with less of the sun that would look amazing. All in all though, well done!

During this part the camera is slightly jerky. Not sure how to fix that.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Skybase In reply to Matthew-Walk [2009-08-15 16:47:54 +0000 UTC]

It's not jerky here Sounds like issues with frame rate and flash. Try watching the divx or iTunes editions.

All the camera movements are linear. There's no way its jittery.

Oh I wish the clouds could have been bigger here, more epic. If so it might have been cool to rise the camera up through the clouds and glide above for a bit.

I knew it was a 3d video

Wow, just wow amazing imagery, the music goes really good with it to evoke mystery as well as a calming effect. The scenes themselves are really cool how some are like macro footage of the ground rather than a mountainous landscape. Brilliant colours and I have no idea how you got the lighting, textures and modeling so good ! The internet version doesn't do it justice, I would love to see it in full HD with 5.1 SS . You should be very proud of your work here! If you don't have a job then this will most certainly guarantee you a position in any area you were involved in to create this master piece.

Any reason in particular that the text is shown off to the right rather than in the middle like the title?

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

Skybase In reply to Matthew-Walk [2009-08-15 16:45:20 +0000 UTC]

Actually (and honestly) the idea is that as it may be "Nothing" the shift is still something.

It's a contradicting feature of the location of the text. Instead of being where you expect it to be, it forces your attention to the left side. That's not nothing is it? That's "something."

Hence Nothing = Something.

At the same time, it also gives another focal point. Not just the center.
