Description
Hey guys.So it's a week and a half late, 'cause umm... there was this thing I did... and umm... WELL I WAS LAZY OKAY.
-----
Heart Gold / Soul Silver!
Any of the 493 Pokemon following your ala Pikachu in Yellow? YES PLEASE.
-----
Team Kiwifox.
My playthrough team for Pokemon Platinum, all but Infernape were traded as eggs from Pokemon Diamond. Please note the clever nicknames. Kufufu.
Kiwifox being my trainer name, coined by ~fe-fantasy93 .
I basically tried to pick six Pokemon I'd never trained before, making sure I had a Flyer and the basic Types covered. Lucario/Jazz was an exception, since I have Lucario/Aurablast already. These six brings my total number of trained Pokemon on Diamond/Platinum to 135. Sheer insanity.
I haven't actually Played Pokemon in months. Playing Advance Wars: Dual Strike. Maybe some AW fanart in the future?
-----
Infernape - Waltz.
Lucario - Jazz.
Carnivine - Salsa.
Farfetch'd - Tango.
Ampharos - Polka.
Lapras - Blues.
-----
Tried some new techniques as I drew, using Burn and Dodge to shade, for instance.
Ttools:
-Photoshop Elements 7.0 + Mouse
-Pencils, paper etc.
-----
I'll try to submit on a more regular basis from now on. Maybe.

Kiwifox? Lord, I'm honored!
It looks like a super-effective team. ^^ Lucario's a wonderful Brawler.

I really should've planned this out better.
I drew them one by one, making up the poses as I went, so near the end it was hard to fit the Pokes into the pic.
Next time I will plan everything out.
Rwar.

I've always chosen the Water starter for my first playthrough of any Generation. Sort of tradition.
AND THEY'RE THE BEST.
Ohoho.
Infernape has it's charm though. It's only like 4 feet tall, but it still kicks butt! Nya.

Meeeh. Fire is better. (I always pick the fire starter for my first game; sort of tradition.) Good fire types are much rarer grass or water, and furthermore-c'mon! How could anything else compete?
NO, FIRE TYPES ARE DEFINITELY THE BEST.
Ohohohohohohooo...
I do have a question, though... Is that really the team you started out with? I'm just confused by the Lapras, Ampharos, and Farfetch'd. Don't you need the national dex to use them?

You just totally copied my lines.
Rwar. Empoleon! BUBBLEBEAM!
IT'S SUPER EFFECTIVE.
Mwahahaha.
lrn2ply. *poke you*
You can actually trade non-Sinnoh Pokemon to a pre-national-dex game just fine, they just don't have entries in your 'dex and have ??? has their Pokemon number when you look at their stats.
In my case, I traded the eggs over, so they'd have my new trainer as their OT.
And since you can trade as early as you get your first Pokeball, I had my entire team right around Sandgem Town.

Infernape! Mach punch! Close combat! --Yeah I get to move twice 'cause Infernape's sleek and Empoleon's FAT.
It's super effective!
Oh, I see. I thought that you couldn't have international Pokemon before you got the national dex. Good to know.

Aqua Tail!
FOR MASSIVE DAMAGE.

You give me those Pokedollars!

Quick Claw wouldn't help you at all.
Think about it.
-Turn Phase n-
-Infernape uses Thunderpunch!
-Gyarados hangs on with Focus Sash!
-Gyarados uses Aqua Tail!
-Infernape fainted...
'nape does't get a chance to activate Quick Claw on my turn.

Gawd I hate the focus sash. XP
That being said, I can just use my awesome Manectric (Master rank cool, in both Hoenn and Sinnoh) to fry up that fishy.
-And Infernape's still the better fighter. It can grill Torterra, from whom Empoleon runs like a little girl.

Those little bastards can win battles. I learned the hard way there. Still have nightmares about it. XP
Dare I ask what you nicknamed your little fishy fryer?
I have a Manetric named Shrike. That's right, I can name every Poke I've trained. 138 and counting.
Excuse me, I resent that comment. Empoleon runs away from Torterra like a big buff manly man.
Isn't Infernape weak to Ground attacks anyway? Like ooooh say, Torterra's Earthquake?

ShiroRyu927 In reply to Skyblufox [2009-07-09 19:12:05 +0000 UTC]
...I never nicknamed a fishy fryer. That's what me and my Pokemons do to fishies. We fry them. I like mine with ketchup and salt.
I've named every Pokemon I've ever caught. Since the Ruby/Sapphire days. O_o Some of the names are really crummy, though... ( I have a female Golem named Gravella. )
Perhaps Earthquake could be a threat... If Torterra weren't so ungodly slow. Infernape can set that puppy on fire (I personally favor Blast Burn) before it even reached the starting gate.

A little dash of lemon is exquisite. Ketchup is always welcome, of course.
I've only started nicknaming recently. Well, since Diamond.
A little personal touch. They're not without embarrassing nicknames though. Flutterbug the Butterfree? Yeesh. I'm thinking about filing out a legal name change application.
Ah, but likewise: Empoleon, though sluggish, outspeeds Torterra and popsticalises it with Ice Beam before it can strike back with Earthquake. Poor Torterra.

Yeah, naming pokemon gives the sense that they're your own. Individuals. One-of-a-kind, even though all the others of their kind look just alike.
And Infernape, with its superior speed stats, Mach Punches Empoleon before it can use any of its dastardly water moves.

Skyblufox In reply to ShiroRyu927 [2009-07-09 23:37:18 +0000 UTC]
Bwahaha. My incredibly gruff and manly nicknames lead the way to victory. HAHAHA. not you Flutterbug, sorry...
But with it's higher speed, wouldn't Close Combat be a better choice of attack? I doubt a Mach Punch could beat Empie's steely defenses... Aha, but what if I used Aqua Jet? Nape's low, low defense could very well break under an attack like that. *mad scientist mode*
Face it hun, I got you beat.

ShiroRyu927 In reply to Skyblufox [2009-07-10 14:59:17 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, and I shall find my road to success with my clever and well-thought out nicknames. (Except for Shello the Shellos.)
Thanks for the tip. With a quick, albeit weak attack like Aqua Jet, that lump of penguin Empoleon might actually get a hit in. But once Infernape weathers the WEAK blow, she strikes back with Close Combat and does massive damage.
I AIN'T BEAT YET! ><

Skyblufox In reply to ShiroRyu927 [2009-07-10 20:05:34 +0000 UTC]
Shello~ very cute.
Hey some of my Pokes have well thought out names too.
A bunch are named after famed scientists, for example.
Still, I think Infernape's weak physical defense loses against Empoleon's medium attack plus a super effective move.
I tend to highly value priority attacks (Quick Attack etc).
Too many newbies get caught off guard by speedy moves.

ShiroRyu927 In reply to Skyblufox [2009-07-11 01:50:23 +0000 UTC]
Gravella wasn't very cute. ;_;
Nice. Sometimes I name Pokemon for literary figures, like Holden (Caufield) and Huck (Finn).
High priority attacks are sort of a gimmick compared to honest stats. My Lien could hold her own, I swear!

Always wanted to train an Ampharos.
Lucario is one of my favourites from Gen IV.
Some of the new Pokes look awful. D:
