WOOWOOT!!! I think both, though I'm more towards a Griffin moving into Ponyville. That way, Ponyville will be more interesting. Let's face it, Zecora makes things a little interesting but she doesn't live in Ponyville. A Griffon who would be looking for friendship or so that moved into Ponyville sounds like a great idea.

I like to think that the Griffons helped build the world back when they had a prosperous kingdom. A form of world harmony that as time went by the folks who were part of it forgot what that meant. For some reason or another the Griffons asked for help and no one was able to come to their aid when their Idol was taken. From then on the countries and communities started to drift apart.

i think i really like them their greedy nature fits mythological creatures and i think griffonstone would exactly look like that (i saw a gigantic dove cage at the zoo and my gosh looked like a miniature griffonstone)
