Description

This is an important moment in their story because this is one of the reasons why they got separated for 18 years, so I’ll try to explain what it is and what it means. (It’s my interpretation and my headcanons, read the books for the real story o3o ♡ they’re good !!)

This is based on the book “Beyond the Dark Portal”. Khadgar (with Turalyon, Alleria and more people lol) went through the portal to Draenor and as soon as he sees this world, he is reminded of a vision he had in Karazhan that leads him to believe he’s going to die here, soon.

At this moment he’s overwhelmed with everything that’s resting on his shoulders + his own insecurities. I mean he’s 22, in an old man’s body, fighting to save not only his world but others, trying to support his friends and keep their spirits up, and he’s constantly reminded of the vision of his death…
Though he knows Peregrïn loves him, he starts to think she deserves “better” (what a fool). I don’t like remembering this part but the book makes it clear he feels he can’t be loved (and it’s heartbreaking).
Peregrïn, for her part, is very supportive and reassuring. She has all this love for him, that she isn’t shy to tell or show, and it helps. She also, despite herself, act a bit like a bodyguard. I won’t even pretend that she is stronger than he is, she just can’t help it. You don’t need to be stronger than someone to want to protect them right ?
This comic happens just after he has fought Deathwing and “defeated” him (he of course did something very smart and dangerous which is why Perry says “please be more careful”), Deathwing left swearing he’d get his revenge on Khadgar (the text on top is what Deathwing says). This is frightening and Peregrïn was fighting a little distance away when she realized what happened.
She ran to Khadgar and told him something that was gonna change their future: she says she might not survive if something happened to him.
He’s sure that he’s going to die here because of the vision, that he’s not coming back home. So is he going to leave her here alone ? Or take the risk to watch her die ?
He’s not. And that’s why a little later he asks her to start over and live, go back home and go back to her dream of exploring the world. She refuses to leave but he sends her back home.
She’s not going to see him again until, well, many years later. I’ll link their reunion here:
