Description
pinwheel,circles of magical stream,
make psychedelic flowers glow against my skin.
let the fire spark from within,
spin me faster,
take me to where i could dream.

Thoreau used to pick out simple things outside - in the forest, or his backyard, or a stream shore - and just spontaneously try to describe the most nonextraordinary objects. But somehow the man managed to make the most worthless of things worthy of such attention. This sort of reminded me of that method of just seeing something that has struck you, and peeling the skin off into a bunch of lines of words. I think I might like to have one of these lamps myself

i've always admired the way you capture moments in your poetry..how you can turn a still moment into stunning waves..in so little words. this poem reminds me of how i often sit on my bed, watching shadows spin, an effect from the ceiling fan, flaming the white walls. as if in contentment, i would then turn off the lights and go sleep~

No such thing as too short of a poem, enfusion! (of course, I'm just saying that because I tend to write 4 or 5 liners. I like short form.)
This poem is deceptively simplistic in form... it fools you into thinking it's simple until you realise how visually and emotionally profound it is.
The beauty that is present in everyday objects is actually one of my favourite themes. There is so much beauty in the world that people don't take the time to notice... the grace of a walking spider, the sparkle of glass, the vivid colour of jelly bean in the light...
Congratulations on the DP, and thanks for the lovely images!

After a hard day's.work, come home and throw my self on the bed, for sometime my eyes closed, then they open and i look straight at the light comming from the lamp, then make shadows which i can see on the wall, then suddenly my arms feel tired and i take my pillow and make myself comfy, then when it's time to sleep my eyes stay open, looking at shadow of the lamp on my hand.
I trun my lamp off, try to sleep, but turn it on again.
This is beautifully written Ruth,

pinwheel
circled magically, and ever so slowly within the room and across the windows facing darkness, glowed those flowers soft against your face and bubbled light sparked friendship, flowered green and smiley cream lace.

I truly love your poem, Ruth. It is delightful and playful with that delicate, elegant touch you always give your words. Light as a summer rain you lay them out before us and always we walk away having been refreshed.....joy

got it?
it's a poem about a night lamp. it has a shade that spins because of the heat of the lamp, making the colorful light dance and move against the walls of my room, against my skin, the floor..
