Sun rays began to stream into the room from below the tree line as dusk approached and the sun lowered just enough to hit Mega square in the face. Rays of light touched Mega’s face with such fierceness that caused him to stir and awaken from his dreamless sleep. He found himself on the floor, the tattered rag still in his palm and the remains of the small box hurled across the room.
Achingly, Mega sat up and rubbed his stiff neck, the discomfort of his emotions and last night’s crash and burn on the floor made his entire body scream in protest. Unhappily, he stood up and tried to ignore the spasms his calf muscles gave as he went about gathering the box contents to be hidden again. There wasn't much; several pictures of Protoman from surveillance cameras, a wanted poster of his brother - followed by a rather large warning about confrontation, and of course, the rag he still had in his hand. He thought back guiltily about the few moments he had considered ‘misplacing’ the bedsheets and blankets Proto used during his brief stay here... but Roll had been quite prompt at cleaning out everything their brother had touched. He knew they'd be missed anyway, and that was a standard of creepy he hoped he wouldn’t ever reach.

Box contents gathered, he took another look at the piece of scarf and carefully covered the pictures and clipping with it, then closed the box and put it back in it's place within his other secret container. He stared at it for a moment before softly sighing. ”Maybe someday I'll understand," he pushed the container back into his closet and hid it once more. "…I guess I should let them know I'm home."
Mega smoothed out his clothing and took a quick whiff of himself, "Phew! I should probably get a shower after some food..." Mega opened the door to his room and peaked out into the empty upstairs hallway. Already he heard Roll humming softly with Rush flipping through the channels looking for something to watch before dinner. He thought momentarily about how strange it was that his father designed them to eat and drink when there was no real need. Mega and his sister had developed their own preferences; their own likes and dislikes to flavors, how much they felt like eating, and even junk food cravings. Mega's stomach growled at the idea of one of his favorite foods; a nice thick juicy burger with cheese, bacon and extra extra pickles. Roll would make such a face at him for even suggesting such a fatty, greasy treat. This was another one of those things Mega took for granted until he realized he was; this was another gift from his father, his creator. Mega sighed once again at his subconscious desire to depress himself. “I gotta get out of this mood…” he muttered. “If this keeps up, I’ll be wearing black and cutting my wrists to some nu metal band music.”
Mega mustered up his smile and tensed as he walked downstairs into their view. "Hi guys," he waved to the two, than braced himself. In a flash Rush was on top of him furiously licking his face and barking. Roll peaked her head out of the kitchen and smiled brightly.

"Mega! I didn't know you were home already! Welcome back!"

"Thanks sis. Yeah, I came in pretty late and decided I'd let you guys know in the morning, then I overslept.. Is Dr light awake yet?"

"He's actually not here. He had an important meeting to attend. He said he messages you about it?"

"oh... Um, yeah. I guess I forgot about it.". Mega lied uncomfortably. The truth be told he chose to ignore any of the messages he received while on vacation; unless it was sent through the emergency channel.

Roll apparently didn't catch the slip, she smiled and beckoned him to the table. "C’mon, Mega, I'll get you something to eat. You must be starving."

"Well, I am pretty hungry. Been a while since I've eaten your cooking.". He stated pleasantly. "You gotten any better while I was gone?"

"Hey! After I'm trying to be nice and everything!" she huffed, but smirked at him. Mega laughed half heartedly, trying to hold his smile as he gently pushed Rush off himself and stood up from the ground. The dog decided Mega was adequately greeted and returned to his shows. Mega walked over to the table and sat down. Roll had her back to him, the hot bubbling from the pot was the only sound he heard from her direction for quite some time. Mega was about to cough awkwardly to try and spark up a conversation when he was beaten to the punch by his sister. "Mega? Are you feeling better?"

Mega shifted uncomfortably, he glanced down at his empty plate to avert his eyes. He needed someone to talk to about this, someone who may be able to understand how much Proto hurt him. "That's kinda what I want to talk about. I don't feel much better." He saw her hand reach over and take the plate – he subconsciously noticed she decided to feed him first, how typical of Roll. When she returned the plate it was filled with warm hearty beef stew. He felt his mouth water, but decided to forcibly press on his conversation, no matter the cost to his appetite. "I don't know what to do about Protoman, sis."

Had mega bothered to take his eyes from his food, he'd have seen his sisters frigid scowl appear on her pretty face. "You should do everyone a favor and blast him into next week, Mega."

Mega flinched at her harsh words; it was so rare for Roll to be so genuinely blunt. He sighed. "That's a solution I don't want it to come to."

"Don’t know why," she added more angrily than she intended. "he wants to do that to you, to me, and to Dr Light.” She picked up a dish towel to wipe another plate clean for herself then scowled and flung the towel away in anger. “I can't believe he tricked us into thinking he wanted to change and be a good guy! Once a bad bot, always a bad bot!"

"Yeah yeah, bad bot!". Rush chimed in from the living room. He growled at the thought of Mega’s brother. To think he licked his face, yuck!

Mega felt his face flush in frustration, this wasn’t going the way he had hoped the conversation would. Neither of them were listening to him. "Doesn't have to be this way, he could leave wily." he whispered. His throat contracted at the sound of his sisters harsh laughing response.

"LEAVE Wily? Are you kidding Mega? Those two were made for each other! They're both lunatics with delusions! Violent, horrible evil men!"

"You take that back!" Mega turned his face up to Roll, startling her with his expression of anger.

"Mega, why are you getting so mad?"

"Maybe I don't think you're being fair,". He responded. " What would YOU know about him? maybe, he's not as bad as you think."

Roll started to lose her temper now; she just made him food, and this is how he acts? "He's probably worse, Mega. He's a sleazy, dishonest, horrible scum bot! It just sends shivers down my spine knowing he was in our house." Besides," she added rather lamely "I know enough."

Mega scoffed. "And what exactly do you know?"

"I know he's a bad influence on you."

"On me?!" Mega stood up from the table, his knee catching the edge, causing his food to spill slightly. "what're you talking about?”

Roll turned her face away from her brother for a moment, emotions flashed in her eyes he couldn't see. Then he felt his stomach drop seconds before she confirmed what he hoped he’d never hear she turned to face him. "I found that box, Mega."

Mega and Roll stared at one another, each both horrified at the admittance. Roll broke her gaze towards her brother when she noticed Rush staring curiously in their direction; he was confused at the raised voices. "Rush, go watch tv in the lab." She stated flatly. The dog whined in protest and looked to Mega for support.

"Now, Rush." Mega demanded without even a glance on his direction. Defeated, Rush left the neighboring room with a soft whimper. Mega waited until he was sure the dog was gone, before returning to the subject. "You went into my room?" he whispered, his heart pound hard in his chest. "...and looked through my stuff?"

Roll sheepishly avoided his gaze; despite her previous fury, the look on Mega’s face had revealed to her she had gone too far and now she regretted it. "I-I was cleaning, and I thought I could maybe make more room in your closet and--"

"You had no right to look through it!" he snapped.

"We've never kept secrets from each other before! How was I suppose to know you're interested in those disgusting things!" she snapped back, her words caused Mega’s face to redden more. "It was protoman, wasn't it?” She whispered harshly, a note of pleading in her voice. “Just that small bit of time around here and he's filled your head with bad things!"

Mega stared at her, rage etched into every line of his face. He couldn't speak; he was honestly afraid to. Roll knew she had upset him and hated herself for it, but she had wanted to get this off her chest for a while now, but this certainly wasn’t going the way she had hoped it would… "Mega, I'm sorry I invaded your privacy. I knew something had been wrong with you since Protoman came here. I knew when he betrayed us, it was going to hurt you more than you wanted to admit... I was worried."

Mega felt very little from her apology; his mind still raced at her conclusions. She thought the contents of the box were Proto influenced... She had been in his room, dug into his private possessions; why did that bother him so much? Why did he feel so betrayed once again? His eyes must have conveyed his unfaltering anger and embarrassment; because Roll’s look of guilt turned to one if desperation.
"Please Mega, don't be mad at me... I only did it because I love you, I thought maybe Protoman had done something to you. He did, didn't he? You never liked those awful things before ...he convinced you look at them while he was here, didn't he?"

"You're always blaming him, aren't you?" Mega growled. "anything even remotely odd happens to me and it's all Protomans fault. It used to be Wily, why the sudden change in scapegoat?"

"Because," she whispered. “because Wily doesn't get to you like he does! You mope around the house for hours sometimes after he has words with you. You insist on playing his game by calling him brother! He's manipulating you and you don't even realize it!" she practically cried out in frustration, “Don’t you see it?!”

"I can't believe this..." Mega covered his face, shamed and still furious at Roll. His sister wiped her eyes sadly, still looking away from her brother. He braced himself for the answer he'd ask for now, the question he had to ask. "Does Dr Light know?"

The silence rang long between them, Megaman knew the answer.

"Oh god..." he whispered, squeezing his head harder into his trembling hands. "oh, no..."

"Mega, I..."

"No." he turned away and started for his room.

"Mega! Wait, please!” She started for him, desperate to stop him from leaving her alone. “I'm sorry! I was worried! I didn't know who else to talk to!"

"How about me?!" he spun back to face her, stepping forward furiously and causing her to cringe. "why didn't you talk to me about it first!?"

"I-I don't know." she answered pitifully. "Maybe I was afraid of the answer I'd get... I didn't know what to do, it was all so awful… I thought maybe they were his, I was going to throw the box away when I saw the smaller box... And what was inside it."

Megas heart skipped a beat, she had seen the scarf and pictures, what must she think?

She thinks I did it, bro.

That familiar cynical voice in his head. It made sense now why she blamed him. He looked his sister in the eyes and saw for the first time through the sadness; he saw the accusations, the faint trace of distrust and disapproval, and suddenly he wanted nothing more than to be away from this place. Without a word he walked back up the stairs, he heard Roll call his name with such pleading in her voice, heard her hesitant footsteps behind him, but he didn't care anymore.

He went back to his room and locked the door.

Seems like everytime the camera is off, i do a better job coloring. That's kinda lame. So, no video this time.

This was probably the part I was most excited to write, an argument between Mega and Roll that was genuine and not just "god dammit woman, stop following me into battle!" and "Mega's gona need mah halp w3ather he n33dz it 0r n0tz lulz"

God DAMMIT, im so happy Mega'll be changing his clothing next scene... I'm very regretful that I put a logo on his shirt, i really am, what a pain in the butt.

anyhoo, did this while waiting for a friend to send me word back on a commission. Which he did, now i gotta shrink stuff and make a new helmet. BACK TO WORK.
