I wanted to try and simplify Gabriel's face and style with less lines and tones, and I also wanted to try my hand at making a fake screenshot. Turned out pretty good, hope you guys like! Any criticism is welcome.--

Lovely setting and it's nice that you can't see the other character but all of the focus is on Gabriel and his lovely facial expression!
Compared to your very elaborate sketches this is just nicely even with lines and colouring - more shading might have made it too fuzzy or confused
- however now it looks really nice and balanced.
I would totally watch this show :3

Thank you! That was my hope, to try and simply his design and only keep the "Important" lines. Since too many lines would lead to future inconsistencies when I draw him, and would just clutter his face and design. I wanted to try and take care of that problem now. I want to try and make more screenshots like this in the future. Β It means a lot that you like it, thank you!

Simplicity if often way more efficient :3 I think you kept everything necessary to keep him old looking

The only thing I can recommend to make it look a bit more like a screenshot is to use the Ariel font and make it either white or yellow (I prefer yellow) And give it a black outline. I don't think Manga Studio can do the black outline around the text but there are plenty of online photo editors that do. That kind of text has always read 'subtitle' to me and makes it look more legit.Β

You're really spot on with this, I was sort of lost as to what to do with the text, but a black border would have really helped. I intend to make more in the future so I'll definitely keep that in mind. Doing this was actually really helpful because I normally draw Gabriel with a ton of lines and colors on his face, but this forced me to really consider which of lines of his face are important and simplify and make his design more "effective". If you want my dude, I can send you the tutorials I used to make this. The key really is just using thin, non-weighted lines and flat values and keeping the design simple, but I can show you what I used anyhow.

I made a couple of these fake screenshot things, likeΒ Fe Fi Fo Fum Β andΒ Cool your jets . But those were the last ones I did. I have a few tutorials myself that I used that have helped a lot. I use very thin lines when I outline anyway but it's the cell shading that's really important. But you did a really good job on this and I can't wait to see what else you make!

I wish I could have directed you to this artist who does some amazing work with angel-wing anatomy and helped me out so much with my winged humanoid species but unfortunately they've removed all of their art off every account they have.Β
Though you can still find much of it that people have reposted (not as fair to the artist but at least it means we still get to see it)
