I was very inspired by this particular photogragh (cited here: www.spokesman.com/stories/2017… ) and decided to do a mixed media painting, combining my own painting and the photograph. The attached article speaks about the decline of the ocean sea levels, and the loss of coral reefs, which affects the amounts of sand on the beaches surrounding, and the undersea fish life. This is not due to any single issue, there are many factors involved. I'd highly recommend giving it a read, it's very interesting.I was primarily inspired by the colors and the mood of the photograph, and I wanted to create a sea spirit, not a sea creature. A being that is not of the ocean but is the ocean. There are some things I could have done better, and if I had planned this out more thoroughly and done some design mockups it may have come out better, but I am glad I did, I'll refine the concept in the future.

I love seeing you play around with new ideas and techniques! There's nothing wrong with being inspired and just going with your initial ideas, projects that are just for fun don't need a lot of planning out.
I feel like this design ideas has a lot of potential as a character or a mermay design; a spirit or goddess of the ocean made from parts of ocean life like coral, it'd be interesting to see if there are other elements that could be combined to create the character's body. She definitely comes across to me as the ocean and not just an oceanic being. Maybe it's because I'm a desert dweller, but I find your water related designs and ideas absolutely fascinating.
I'm eager to see more of this mixed media experimenting as well as the character should you decide to do more with her. Great work as always! It's a joy to see your art work c:

Goodness this is gorgeous, I love how it differs from your usual work with the mixed media effect (though all of your work is amazing don’t get me wrong!) anyhow, I really love how all of your pieces have a story attached to them, I think it adds so much.
