These past few weeks have been pretty busy with college starting up, I have a new job now and the weather has been pretty intense, so posts/paintings with me slow.For now enjoy some studies I've made with my characters, this one is always fun, feedback is welcome!

I've already given you my thoughts on this piece, and since it's a study/reference I don't feel I have much feedback I can give on this one. I think the only thing that really throws me off about the face is for some reason the shading of the nose makes it look like the bridge of her nose is pretty wide. It's got to be something about the water though, because when I squint at the piece the nose looks just fine.
The coral is from a photo reference, but I feel if you plan to use mixed media for Lady Ocean regularly I'd love to see more than just the dead coral. See if you can use references of real fish, or use undersea pictures for the water texture. (Does water even count as a texture?) Or else, I also think it'd be fun to see you try your hand at painting the coral.
It's always fun to see your character studies, will the rest of the cast get their studies posted as well? I think you should share those too, you've been working hard to create a fun and diverse cast of characters!

I want to do more studies with the corral in general so I can get good at painting it myself and not have to use photos at all. Mixed media is fun but it needs a lot of fidgeting to fit into the piece. I agree about the nose, not sure what happened there but I'll work on it.
