Love the color scheme and patterns on this guy. Your refs are always so beautifully organized, great job! Do you have any tips on drawing open mouths? I can never seem to get the jaws to line up correctly and the angle of the inside of the mouth.

Treat mouths like you would treat a three dimensional triangle like so: [link]
Keep the jaws aligned to the proper angles and you can't go wrong!

Wow just wow sky. You are making me cry with this amazing piece. I can't thank you enough for this. I mean just wow.
That could be a funny nickname. Lord Hood. Now I'm picturing him in Halo armor or just some weird gangsta cap. XDD
But wow just thank you so much. I was itching to get home after work and see if you finished it and wow you've just made things more awesome for my day. I literally can't believe you did this for me. Thank you so much. I love your work and you are an inspiration and great help.

Oh my gosh really? Wow that just makes me feel flattered. If you would like I can make you a custom nagendra for you for coloring this!
How do you make such clean lines if I may ask? I always end up making thick lines. Sometimes uneven, but is there a trick? Is it the tablet? I have a bamboo board I don't know if that's the reason or not, but how do you do it?

Skysealer In reply to AshasCadence [2012-06-18 18:10:16 +0000 UTC]
Oh that isn't necessary, but thank you so much for the offer! C:
I have my tablet preferences (a Wacom Intuos3) set almost to 100% 'firm' and personally work with a small 5px hard brush on a large canvas to get my lines. That's really all there is to it with my line work, just work with settings that you feel comfortable with!

Ah okay. I'll see about my tablet settings then and test that out or fiddle with it some more until it feels right. Thank you!

Nagendras are pretty dang cool, and I had a blast working on Hydra's sheet.
I'm glad this ref will come in handy for not only Hydra, but a little for your own as well!

Both this and the black and white ref are beautiful; you've really done a number with this character! He came out wonderfully noodly while still looking like a solid, believable creature that could potentially exist. (And I can see why you wanted to color it-- them markings, they gawgeous)

Oh man, I know right? Hydra's patterning is mesmerizing -- I had to color it! Love those colors. Cx
Also, thank you for the wonderful comment! C:

Sky i wanted to ask you this question but i didn't know if you will answer so here it is.....
i have this dragon thing sona and i have some problems with the sitting position :T
because she have the back legs upper and bigger than the front one i don't know how to make the position right D:
can you give me and advice or can you explain how i could make her sit in a right position ?
[link] she look like this

khyterra In reply to DeadAndHate [2012-06-16 16:48:58 +0000 UTC]
I'm not ~skysealer, of course, but after taking a gander at your character, maybe you should consider looking at how rabbits and lynxes/bobcats sit for reference? All of those creatures tend to have more hind leg than front leg, so looking at how they sit and imagining the skeletal structure beneath might help!
